Hello everyone!

I wonder if this forum also addressed issues of "home recording" specific to electronic music?
Hope is not a trivial question!:)

Thanks in advance!

Angelo

Hi Angelo

The majority of the member here would probably be in the rock category or some subset of that ,though there are a few of us who like and produce electronica...

It doesnt reall matter anyway, the general specifics to making music are the same and theres a wealth of knowledge here and plenty of folks willing to help..

Theres also some guys who have their head around midi way more than anyone should which can be an important aspect of our music..

Get stuck in, try to post in the right forum, its increases your chance of getting your questions asked and try to be specific in what your asking, it also speed up the process...if its very generalised Id just stick it up in this n00b forum

welcome aboard :)

Thanks guys!

Are about 6 months I am delighted with the 'home recording "but I have yet to acquire all the concepts that allow my production to compete with most of those on the market (if possible).
I hope to draw as much as possible on this Forum!

Its taken me almost a year just to get mixes Im happy with and I do this every day...

Its a slow but very rewarding process, drop me a line if I can help with anything as Im sure Im only a little bit ahead of you so your challenges are still fresh in my mind

enjoy your stay here :)

Don't let KC fool ya, he came a long way very quickly. It takes most of us much longer than a year to mix something we're happy with.

i think part of the difference is, in Electronica, you're using a lot of VSTi's and are creating soundscapes. The expectation is different than with a straight forward rock tune. The artist/musician has much more leeway to be creative and experiment. If it doesn't come out the way you want, no one else is really going to notice. Whereas in a rock tune, it's a pretty specific mold to fit into and if it doesn't sound quite right, everyone will hear it.

thanks chili, my wife is a music widow :D

Id also say the fundamental difference, and what helped me evolve quicker, is treating the mixing stage as part of the sound production..and rather than have effects there to help separate the instruments and give them their own space or level as when mixing traditional instruments, you use it to shape the sounds, more is better rather than the other way around

wow thats enough seriousness for one day :)

One piece of advice Angelo...erase your presets and learn about synthesis, man its a different world ;)

That pretty much says it. Alot of stuff is a combination of sampled and theyre own audio. Full bands tend not to use samples because they dont really need too. You'll also hear stuff that is 90% sampled. Its a good forum, alot of experienced people here. Quick replys too. Welcome.

Delete the preset will be the next step.:D I agree on the idea that the phase mixing must be fully integrated with the production, at least for my short experience.
