Pete - thanks so much man, I absolutely love it. I saw in the drum test thread that you were finding it deceptively simple, but challenging - you and me both. I've been through 3 iterations of it and still don't think I've nailed it properly yet.

Your version definitely brings something new to the party - you've given the tune a bit of a groove and it's both strange and exciting to hear your own melody/words sung back at you by someone else. What's the effect on the lead guitar line by the way? Is it some kind of wah?

Really stoked by this. Thanks for taking the time and effort :D :D

EDIT: Any chance you could make the file downloadable, so that I could get a copy for myself by the way? Cheers

Cool. I am really glad you like it. It would've been awkward if you thought it totally sucked! Once again I kinda messed up a simple beat, but I felt it was close enough to get away with. I really enjoyed working on this - thank you for allowing me to.

The lead guitar in the middle there is just the guitar with a lot of tremolo and reverb from the amp.

I just enabled the download option so have at it. I didn't initially allow downloads since it's your song and all that...

Thanks again!! :D

The song has this deep "Pink Floyd - San Tropez" feel with the lazy beat and hollow haunting electric guitar sound. Heat does great at keeping that vibe going and stays true to the original. I like the brighter approach, it is really what the song needed. Doesn't sound shrill at all, a really good balance.

Always a fan of Heat and now a fan of Rob. ")

Yay! Thanks for the good word Chili. That lazy beat was harder for me to play than it probably should've been. It seems like it's actually a little easier to play fast - which seems counterintuitive?

I am a fan of Rob's stuff. Check out The Oddest Sea on his Soundcloud page. A similar feel to it, but a bit more going on (too complicated for me to tackle this time!) :)

Excellent, thanks Pete and Chili. I felt a little apprehensive about mine until Manslick had given it his thumbs up too, so I know what you mean there too.. That lead guitar line you've put in is really cool - and thanks for enabling the download :D

By the way, I found a very early version of the Oddest Sea with different lyrics and arrangements the other day when I was looking through an old folder of sketches and ideas. Doesn't warrant a new thread, but may upload to soundcloud at some point if I get round to it.

Thanks for your kind words too Chili - I wasn't familiar with San Tropez (or much Pink Floyd really), but after hearing it I can hear where you're coming from
