HEllo everyone. Well I am new to the whole recording world. I have a few questions

First off I am building a comp from scratch
Next
I was wondering whats a good computer recording program for my needs

I'm a Hip-Hop producer
I currectly use A roland XP80 Keyboard
Mpc 2000
Asr Xpro
Alesis microverb
Zoom SamplePLayer( Yeah I know its cheap but it helps me)
Korg MS2000 ( Which is on its way :))

also what do i need to run a recording program?

How do I go from my behringer mixing Board into the comp?

I am going to need at least 8 Tracks to record on, what program is the best bet?

Thanks for your time

neither of the programs companies you have listed... get your self Cubase Vst32 5.1, Nuendo 1.5.2, or Logic 5 platinum

if you build a mac get Digital performer 3 or pro tools

So what program can I use

So what program can I use, that fits my needs???? )

I would get the digi01 from Digidesign, it comes with Pro Tools LE software, 24 tracks.

trust me the digi 001 and pc don't 100%mix, plus being that he is doing rap/hip hop he's gonna want to work with more than 24tracks.

if you get a card like the C-port you will get logic with it, its not the top of the line logic but its a start. i'd go with cubase or nuendo. 128tracks should be more than enough.

I think that since DJ T. MOMO is new to computer based recording. He should go with Vegas Audio 2.0 or Sonar (read... Cakewalk10).

They are great programs, they have easier learning curves, they have unlimited tracks (Vegas) and they don't crash (Vegas) that much (Sonar).

Do you think NASA will let him use their Cray computers?
:p :p :p

DJ, you doing midi stuff? Dont think Vegas has midi, Cakewalk is very good with midi.

Ola, very funny:)

128 tracks?

It does not take those many tracks to produce a nice hip-hop song, c9-2001 will your comp run 128 tracks? ok thats what I thought.... have you ever ran the Digi01?. DJ go with Cakewalk that might be the best for you.

Carter;)

yes i have ran a digi001 and the quality is great.
will my computer run 128 tracks.. i don't know i had over 62 last week and didn't have a problem.
i've been producing and making rap/hip hop/r&b sence i was 12. if its just him 24 could work, if he's gonna have other artist on a song 24 isn't gonna cut it.

When Dr. Dre was working with Trent Reznor on the song "Even Deeper," Trent said he'd bring down the tracks number to 64. Dre couldn't believe it. He was only used to working with 8 or so tracks.

Is the C-Port pretty much the best buy for a person with only about $400 to spend who already has Cubase VST/32? That's what I'm wondering but can't seem to get anybody to answer me.
