The bad news: a little less chorus on vox maybe? Just a white guy's opinion.

The good news: I wouldn't change anything else. Nice tune, great playing and voice.

I need to hear your other stuff too... soon, I hope.

Stereo Cowbell

The Eventide Eclipse has a great program with stereo delays that would sound great on a cowbell that would work great with all the other delay things going on in this song.

But seriously folks, I think it is a fine piece of work. The organ sounds like Reese Wynan's thumb and the guitar is reminiscent of Sure Got Cold After The Rain Fell (ZZ Top). Billy Gibbons would be proud!

I think the overall mix is wonderful, but I have to agree with someone about the slide bit at the beginning of the song being a little bit thin. Perhaps if it was in the body of the song it would sound better or maybe it could be re-EQ'd if it's going to be copied and pasted at the beginning. Wouldn't want the guitar playing not to shine now would we?!

Overall I think it is a wonderful job.

WOW.

That intro was amazing. Then the voice came in and it was amazing too. MAN, I am hearing mad talent. Now, you just need to work on stronger wildcards and you are on your way to the big time.

funk on!

HEY JAMAL!!!

HEY JAMAL!!! - EMPTY OUT YOUR F*&^ING pm BOX!!!!

(sorry to bump this again...it was an emergency)

While I'm at it, thanks Chuck...thank you. You obviously have a very ecclectic musical collection.

A Modified Dog - You're right. And you're cool for listening to it...and you're probably cool anyway, but the vox are gonna' be a bit different on the final.

THANK YOU. JAMAL, YOU FUCKING MORON...CLEAN OUT YOUR PM BOX!!!

sheesh....ok ok.........i totally take back all the nice things i ORIGINALLY said about this cheap-ass...country bumpkin piece-o-crap.........(unless my messages are awesome)...when i choose to view them.....lmao

I see I'm quite late on this one, but hey, it's a huge thread I couldn't resist.

Nice to finally meet you chris. GREAT work! I don't know if this is revised or what but don't change a thing. Feels soooooo nice (drums and all ;)), thanks :D

Great tune-Love your voice-always crystal clear-Nice soloing...Jimmy Page watch out! Liked the organ-Gave it that anthemic quality (in a good way). The chorus made me think "Little help from my friends" done by the black crows. That particular chord change is part of the collective unconscious at this point!! Nice wailing there! You must have played in a Slayer cover band at one point-I can tell..

I have to say this sounds damn good to my ears on the whole. The singing sounds like Bon Jovi at places, and I think it's a good thing this time :D

The snare could use a bit of reverb, but if I were you I'd ignore all my suggestions about the drums, since I'm overly nitpicking and don't know what the hell I'm talking about half of the time anyway.

It sounds the thing is well balanced and nothing is too loud or too quiet at the first listen at least. I can't give you any suggestions, because I wouldn't know myself what to improve. I guess there's always something to do better, but I can't figure it out. I love those acoustic guitars again. I dunno, I like acoustic guitars maybe too much for a generally metal-head type of guy :D Maybe Pink Floyd got me excited about acoustic guitars... hmm...

About the drums...

Chris,

VERY nice work! Great homespun sound. The drums aren't NEARLY as bad as you think they are. Granted, they are not flashy or particularly inventive, but in that genre, sometimes less is more.

That said, if you were serious about someone taking a shot at recording you a part, I'd be pleased to take a shot. The problem is, there is no distinct count-in to establish tempo prior to the drum entrance.

Two ways to remedy:
1) No remedy - I'll just come in where I can and you can crossfade/combine the parts as you wish
2) You post just the drum part somewhere with a count-in for me to work from.

Either way is fine with me...

For an idea of the drum sound you'd be in for, see my thread in this forum, it has my song Dewpoint on it...

Cheers,

Hi cris: i'm new, and I read somewhere to listen to one of your tunes. Hate to burst your bubble, but this didn't really do anything for me. I can tell you have a good voice, but it's too covered up with all the effects.
