Hi Chris
I'm late to the party - hope everyone hasn't gone home!
First - superb singing. You really have an excellent voice, and the screaming bit is very cool - nice and raw, but controlled just enough, and still bang-on for pitch. How do you do that?
Songwriting - good, but not my favourite of yours.
I think maybe the chorus needs a bit of a lift - maybe even just some harmonies. You could also play about with bringing the instrumentation down a bit during the verses, to really give the chorus an extra zing when it comes in.
The verse chords sound reminiscent of "Whiter Shade of Pale", but the melody is totally different.
Some nice lines - the burning bridges bit is my fave.
The mix sounds a wee bit "left-sided" to me. I'd swap the two hard-panned guitars - the one that's currently on the left has a bit more edge than the one on the right, and clashes a bit with the hihat. Swap the guitars, and I think it would balance things out nicely.
The steel/slide guitar is a bit piercing - can you tone it down a bit? (Can you spot the irony in me saying your guitar is too harsh?

)
Bass sounds good - nice and simple, but solid.
The electric guitar could probably live a tiny bit further out to the right, just to give it a bit of room.
The mix as a whole is just slightly too "up front" to my ears - a gentle cut (3db, Q=0.45) around 2.9k makes a big difference, without damaging the overall sound. See what you think.
Really good sound, top-notch vocal, but it doesn't hit me the same as your previous ones. Nice axe-hero stuff, though!
Keep up the good work
Alastair
