Highest Quality Interface...?

I'm looking for an interface for my computer, that offer's the highest quality for $1,000 or less.

RME is about to come out with the FireFace 400 (similar to 800, except with only 2 pres, 1 ADAT connection and 8 analog ins). It will probably hit for under $1000, and it's hard to beat RME for quality. If you don't need to be mobile, you might check into their PCI lines of stuff.

Does the $1000 include the cost of preamps?

$1,000 covers pre-amps.

The Fireface 400 sounds great, I've used the 800 for awhile, and was really diggin it.

I'm also looking at the Saffire Pro.. any thoughts on the 2 vs each other?

RME make a multiface II. It's PCI with 8in 8out breakout box. The cost I think is around 800?

I got mine for $725 shipped. 8x8 analog, 1 ADAT, 1 S/PDIF, 1 MIDI. Nice software, and input monitoring for indiscernable latency..

aaaah, and the new Presonus FireSTUDIO will be out soon, with 8 pres, ADAT, pretty good converters and DSP routing. That's what I'll upgrade to next. You can preorder them for $899 right now.

The FF400 looks like a good deal, but its got a wall wart But it does have buss power. Don't know if its something that would be usable.
