Yeah, I saw a Pa-100 in a pawn shop the other day and almost bought it. But christmas is coming, the first one for my 11-month old daughter, so I had to refrain from spending the money :(

Yes, they are loud :D

So, do what Homer Simpson would do. Buy your daughter the PA-100. ;^)

homer

the homer theory....... and a great way to get your daughter into music....

becuse its not needed and you0u will go deaf....but if you want all tha power get the fender metal head.....fender.com

Interesting read... lots of good points here.

Just like to point out for anyone who doesn't know already:

Many 100watt solid state amps will have a hard time holding their own against many 25 watt tube amps.

BTW- We're still trying to figure out how to kill anything made by Peavey, so if your guitarist has found a way, please enlighten us!!! :D

You can try the way my punk 19 yr young nephew and his wannabee metalhead garage thrashers killed the Peavey Studio Chorus 70 that was on indefinite loan to my brother.....

They plugged the speaker out jack of my 5 watt Valve Junior into the input jack of the Peavey, thinking the VJ would act like a killer distortion booster.

Instant fried power output transistors. First problem I've had with ANY Peavey gear I've ever had, and I've had that SC70 for 20 years! Of course, the punks disappeared and never returned when it came time to pay for the repairs.....

Kids, I feel for the amp owner...ouch. Since this thread seems to be falling one one side of a fence or the other I'll side. I vote volume addict, no apologies. I do advocate ear protection. I, also, am a hopeless lover bands in the vein of Sabbath, check out Torche or Ufomommat, and going to an entertaining show should include earth moving levels of volume or else pack it up Clay Akin. If you are in a bluegrass band or straight edge hard core band I think a 30 watt limp wrister will do just fine ;)

From the stage or from the house PA?

amps of course! the pa is icing on the cake. my ideal set up would be two superleads half stacks, one on each side of the stage with stereo effects to pan and lend depth.

That was my favorite rig "back in the day" when I was into rockin' hard. I had a couple Plexis and a Boss CE-1 stereo chorus, with a TS-9 and a wah in front. I also had a couple 50-watt JCM-800 heads for playing smaller joints. Sometimes I'd set all of 'em up and have 3 or 4 stacks when we were in a big joint or outdoors

Ahhhh, those were the days :D

Crate Shockwave 350 or the Marshall Mode Four, Crate also makes a 300 watt tube head called the Blue Voodoo. It's all overkill.

holy wow, that's high wattage. i play 120 watt head, and i NEVER play that thing over 6. even in large large venues. If you're micing the sucker, it should matter.

You crazy man. Both of you should look at an orange Thunderverb. And ear-plugs.

i second that.

never said the metal head is a great amp....the guy wanted a lot of watts...and when fender sets of car alarms form three blocks away with it...i thought that will help his taste

personally, i like loud amps. it's just part of real rock n roll.
