I don't know what differentiates the sounds of these drums but I’m guessing certain drummers favor certain kits for different genres of music am I right?

I've been sampling drums from old funk songs from guys like Bootsie Collins and old R&B records from guys like Lionel Ritchie and I really like them. I know that there are tons sample kits comprised of drums out there that are created by experienced people who have already done the work for people such as myself, but I want to know who are reputable. I want the sounds of real drums from real drummers from really nice drum kits. Since I haven't a nice drummer or the expensive equipment to get the sound that I want, I would like to buy some kits to expand my pallet. I know that there are some cheap kits that sound like they came from a Casio keyboard so I’m reaching out to experienced drummers and/or engineers to help me out with not purchasing such garbage.

1. Who are the top companies to shop for drum kits on cd format in?
Preferably one shots but I'm willing to purchase isolated loops if it comes
Down to it.

2. What are some drum kits on cd or download specifically for Funk and/or
R&B?

3. What are some drum kits on cd or download specifically for Rock? I'm
guessing Drums from Hell

I use Natural Studios NS Kit 7 (http://www.naturalstudio.co.uk/). You really need to use it with a decent sampler like Kontakt 2 (which there are patches for), and it's taken a while for me to get a decent sound (but I'm still learning), but it's a decent sample set to work with, and there are a lot of samples.

thanks, I haven't heard of that sound set but i'll definitely look into it. I'm reading a lot of good things about BFD and DKFH
