Hi, I have a Casio LK-270 keyboard linked up to my soundcard (Roland Edirol UA-25EX) which is linked up to my Windows7 PC. When I record it on my PC I get an annoying high-pitched background noise. I can remove it alright with Audacity but it's affecting the quality of the recording. What could this be?

Are you running on a laptop? Try unplugging the power.

If you can, you could try to isolate Casio's ground pins with tape.

Try another audio cable or try moving it away from power cables.

Or it could just be the Casio as it's pretty cheap piece.

Assume you are using the headphone jack - that could be part of the problem, mis-matched impedance into your Edirol line-ins?

Is the keyboard plugged in through USB directly to the computer? I had the same problem with my Casio keyboard and so I tried another USB cable and it got rid of the sound. I don't know if that'll work for you, but it worked for me. Hopefully you can find the cause of it.

Oh shit, got it!! So happy! I just unplugged the USB cable (it was plugged with the USB cable to the PC + plugged into the soundcard with jack wires).
