Wow!!! Thanks guys....much appreciated.

Joey...thanks for the props and listen man, I appreciate it.

Rayc....Thanks man....I'll see about fixing that guitar part. I think I just didn't turn up the volume quite quick enough as it came in. The solo started a bit early, so I did a fade in, and it may heve been to slow. Thanks again.

Fishmed....thanks man...When I get back home, I'm going to re-work the drums, or ask Bulls Hit to maybe do a mix, and see if we can get a better drum sound. Solo, the yare killer, but take up so much sound-space, I've had trouble getting them the way I want them...Heavy.
I'm gonna try what you suggested, and see if I can get them sounding better. Thanks man.

Tim...Thanks man....now, explain a bit more about the vox thing...I think I know what you mean, but no being a singer, I have trouble with vox..
Are you saying to maybe not follow the guitar stops quite so closely? (trail a bit long, or cut a bit short..) I can easily redo this part. I've thought of adding a lowe, and quieter vocal line in there, that was barely heard, and may try that. Give me some specifics, so I can try something different. I need to think outside my own little box.... :D
And thanks man, really appreciate the help.

Amra, thanks man. The tone is from a mix of direct and mic'd guitars. My amp seems to really bite in the bottom end, so I used the direct guitar to fill that out a bit.
Thanks again.
Ed

Thanks man....appreciate it. I'm still trying to work on recording vox, but this went better than anything else I've done, so glad you liked it. Thanks again for the listen, and compliments.

Ed, I love the vocals..........
What did you use.......mic, pre and fX?

What beer do you use when mixing? I may have to change brands!

Everything fits together very nicely.

Thanks man....vox were through my AT4040, into the DMP3. I was really close, 4" or so, and used teh RNC to limit the clipping. It gave a nice proximity effect....sort of boomy. Then I put it in Sonar, and ran the vox to buss, with the classic chorus, 100% wet, and turned it up just enough to fill out the single vocal a bit. No reverb, or anything else. They were compressed a bit more in Sonar, to try and even stuff out.

I was drinking Beck's most of the time, but also a few Inversion IPA's, and som margeritas. That really was the kicker.... :D

Thanks man....

Reminds of Cranky's Songs....

Sounds good. Pretty cool tune, i think that the vocals are just a bit burried though.
Keep up the great work!!

Jason

Guys, sounding very nice. No suggestions on the mix. Sounding pretty good. Just a record sounds. :)

Good job. The vox rock as do all instruments. :)

Jason, Bubba, thanks guys. Glad you enjoyed it. I'm gonna work on a few issues when I get back home, but it's shaping up pretty good now, thanks to the cool people who helped. :D

Thanks again guys....

Nice work, Dogman.

Some days you get lucky, it ends up your way.

Drums sound cool - very industrial sound to this. Interesting leads throughout, as well.

Definitely a nice mix! Nice 'dark' feel to the song. I like how the solos aren't overdone and have a progressive and unique feel. The vocals aren't my cup of tea, but that's not to say that they're not skilled. They fit the song very well, and I know many who would LOVE them :-). Great job, one of the better recordings i've heard.

Hey Ed, thought I'd chime in too just to say it was fun working on your tune. When I first heard that guitar riff with that tone, I just HAD to jump on it.

I think your mix turned out well too, although I agree with those who say the vox could come up a little, esp at the start. I also think the drums could be a fraction louder, but being the drummer I have to say that

Ok, first...thanks for listening, and chiming in...all of ya.

Casey, thanks man...appreciate it. I want to add just a bit more ooomph to the drums....they have a lot of power, and I may have tamed bit tooo much of that in this mix....I wanted some sort of industrial sound, but think I can do better in the next mix. Thanks man....

Danny, thanks man....the solo's are 2 different people, with 2 very different styles, that happened to put together some stuff that fit really well, and was fun. Thanks for the listen man...I appreciate it.

Bulls Hit, lbanks, thanks guys. This was fun, and your stuff fit really well. I wasn't sure what to do withe the leads, but when Gorty did the nice, simple lines to interact with what Larry did, that really fit well...complimentary stuff.

I'm gonna try and add a bit more punch to the drums, and clean up teh entire mix now.....I think I have some ideas.

Thanks all....much appreciated.
Ed
