Hey guys.... :)

First of all, I want to apologize to everyone who has posted in the last few weeks. I've been around, but without going into detail, the way I'm set up, it's not just a matter of flipping a switch to listen off my computer. I have to get behind stuff and un-plug and re-plug, etc.....So, when I'm recording, I can surf the net, but not listen. A few people asked for collobs and a few friends posted and I didn't get around to listening to anything. But now that I'm done this tune, I will.

So, this is the reason I've been busy the last few weeks. I tried to get a "multiple people" vibe going in the verses of this song. I sang 6 tracks, slightly changing things for each track. I wonder if it works. I'm sure they all sound like the person to a certain extent. But I'm hoping it has the desired effect.

I also went against my instincts and mixed the vocals louder than I would have. But people often tell me that my vox have to come up a bit. So I tried, but I have to get used to it because they seem too up front for my tastes.

Any other issues you hear would be well appreicated.

STREAMING (96kps): It should be the first song that plays HERE. Make sure you're listening to "Don't Want to Rule the World".

DOWNLOAD (320kps): Go HERE and scroll down to FREE DOWNLOADS<<<<<<(don't click this link, it's not mine :( ). "Don't Want to Rule the World".

Thanx.

Hey Rami.

Groovy tune. You've managed to create a nice fusion between funk and hard rock. I think you've got it with the "gang vocals" thing. Also, the song flows well from one section to another

This is really splitting hairs, but it seems like there may be a slight dropoff when the lead vocal comes in by itself between the 1st verse and chorus. Maybe it's just an illusion since it comes in right after the mega vox verse part and a powerful chorus. Just a slight nitpick...that's all I could find!!

Good job!!

Thanx alot guys.

JPW....thanx, buddy. I have to get used to the vocals at that volume. Or, hopefully, enough people will tell me they're too loud that I'll bring them back down. :D

BOO...thanx for the detail on the vocals. You could be right because I might have had trouble getting all the vocal parts to sound coherent. Since I find them louder than I like, I probably still don't hear them right.

Thanx alot.

Cool spoken intro :)

Funky complex rhythms happening in this, VERY impressive. Knowing how you build these I must say you execute the various syncopations beautifully. The melodies within the rhythms are equally cool. Makes a strummer sound boring.... ;)

The drums sound great. Is this your new recording setup or did you put them back where they were last year?

The drums and bass are really tight....

The rhythm guitar (chucka chucka) sounds good- I like that rhythm a lot.

The lead, solo and through the verse, has a nice OD tone. Kind of wahish.

The vocals are very cool....
- Verses/chorus = very well done.....good "chords" of vocals
- 1:20 = there's a blip of some kind like a voice??
- the solo vocal between verse and chorus seems a little low or thin maybe - possibly double it?? Maybe there's so many layers that a single sounds thin...
- 3:50 vocals def too low as the next vocals sound too loud....
- sounds like a random "whoo" and or cymbal hit at the end.

I've downloaded until I can get the next CD.......

Extra Cool Rami.......

Thanx alot, Ido. Yeah, those "single" vocals are actually doubled, but the second track is probably too low. I'll bring it up too thicken it a bit. But I definitely noticed the chorus vocals that come in after that sound too loud. And the part at the end, I thought it would be cool to have them way back, but it doesn't work exactly because of what you said. The next set of vocals sound way too loud. And this is with my drums in the middle of the room for the first time.

The little blips you hear are actually the "hee" (the giggle) Tameka does after she says "I love you...hee" at the beginning.

This is called "The Brian Wilson Effect" when done with unisons.

I'll listen in a few weeks. (ducking and running) :D :D :D

Sounds great dude. It IS better with the vox up!! Unusually, the kick sounds just a smidge upfront, and overall patina has less edge than your other stuff. Neither of these things are good or bad, I merely noticed. I still wanna kick ya. Or at least siphon off your ability to control your right foot. :)

Oooh, hey, is that a little phase issue on the rides? (about 3:15) It's not there on the open hats, but it returns, mostly on the left side. Am I being anal? Do you need Har-Bal? :D

Damn this stuff is sharp.

This is the best riff you`ve written, IMHO. Fuck its probbably the one of the best riff anybody`s written.

I love the Guitar solo on this, piece, though I wish you were using a big muff pedal :D :D :D , Btw how a bout a long delay with low level on the solo sorta mellowing it a bit, give it an even more creamier texture.
I love the way its preformed, so dont change a note

I htink every thing sounds great, playing is tight as allways.

I also dig the vocal arrangement I think it turned out great.

I have no nits with the mix or anything, I just think its brilliant.

Thanks for sharing made my day :)

Cool stuff man...I like the main vocal. Slightly different for you. A little bit of an Alice vibe. Chorus is cool....sounds great to me. Good punchy bass and drum sounds. They drive really well. Guitar playing is cool...fits well, and sounds excellent. I think the bongos add a cool touch also. (I think that's bongos I hear...)

Fun tune man...I think you can polish it up a little more, but I have no specifics for ya. A hint more kick maybe, but don't cover the bass, and don't muddle the low end. :D

Thanx buddy....I wanted the kik up front in this tune because of the groove. But there might be just a little too much snap that I can get rid of.

I don't know if that's a phasing issue. In that part, there is a high pitched shaker playing along on the opposite side of the ride. Maybe they interact funny for a second. I'll have to listen closely to that.

I swallowed a hairball right before mixing this down. :p

Thanx alot, Phil.

Thanx Nak...I do have a little delay on the solo, But I sort of wanted a dry solo...like the second solo in "Money", where it just comes out of one speaker rather dry.

I really appreciate your words, man. It makes MY day. :)

Thanx alot, Dog. That's a djembe, which sounds like a bongo because I don't really know how to play it. :p

I'm going to keep working on it, it's far from finshed.

Thanx alot.

Actually, it's my left foot. I'm one of them there sinister mofos.

really funky stuff man. very cool tune for sure. i liked the ganged vocals too.

one minor thing i heard that hasn't been mentioned is some subtle static starting around 0:30. kind of sounds like wet lips thru a condenser mic. know what i mean? maybe not worth mentioning.

Hey thanx Travis. Everything's worth mentioning, man. I'll listen for that. I know exactly what you mean and, now that I think of it, I can't remember if I soloed my tracks and cleaned them up. Good ears. Thanx alot for the comments. :)

RAMI the new song rocks.
The vocal treatment works well. The riff is cool too. Most of all the rhythm track has a scrotum and the necessary spherical inserts to move this like a rock song should be moved.
I'll listen again so I can comment on the lyrics & tones.

Rami:

Well,I´m in Brasilia, far from home again and without good monitors here, ok? :(
One more excellent production, another great song!
Killer guitar riffs, very good percussion, vocals really works, congrats.
Perfect drums/bass job again ...
When come home, I´ll listen again, with better condictions to give some tech comment / suggest.

(I´ll try a "mono mix" with a final "stereo check"on my next mixes (I do the usual, only the "mono check" to iddentify phase issues).
*I´m not sure than some of our colleagues that wrote about a "mono mix" on your thread listened to your songs...).

Hehe...No problem, I'm sure they'd find something to criticize...and I'm sure there is alot of imporovement to be made. :)

Thanx alot, CIRO. I'm glad it sounds good in Brazil, too :D

I hope you're doing well. You haven't posted anything in a while. I hope the music is still going well.

Thanx Ray. I'm glad that it seems those "gang" vocals turned out better than I thought. I guess, knowing it's all me, Ijust keep hearing the same voice in there.

Now THAT'S a QUOTE!!!!!! :D :D :D

Ray and CIRO...I had uploaded a new mix before you guys posted. In case some of the above comments on the volumes don't seem valid now. It was the comments that made me go back and re-mix, so everyone's comments above are very valid and the reason (I hope) it sounds better now. Thanx, guys.
