Okay,

Love reaper 99.9%, except for 1 small little thing.

Kind of difficult to explain, but I'll try.

When your recording on a track, it of course makes your 'green' wav area, where the audio is. I believe they are called "items".

If I record, and then record over that item, and then rewind a bit and record, or whatever, I now have lots of little item seperation / dividing lines.

Or, If I try to record overtop of all that, (all the items) the dividing lines then stick through my new ITEM wave, which should be on top.

Problem is - sometimes when you PLAY, and you hit an item line, it can pop or make a sound, when I didn't want that item division there in the first place.

So then you've got your newest version of the track, with several divisions you didn't want. (They are all the divisions from when you previously started and stopped recording - it doesn't erase over top of them, they stick right through).

So what is so annoying about it, is everytime I record a little bit of something, If I don't like it - I am forced to walk over to the computer, grab the mouse, and UNDO so I wont get those stupid lines everywhere.

Hope I made sense on this.

Do you know what I am talking (ranting) about ?

Click options and you will see three different record modes. Try number 3 : Auto punch selected items" and see if that behaviour is better

Really ?

It was that simple ?

I struggled so hard to word my question right.... and that's it ?

lol

Thanks !

#1 and #2 piss me off lol, but technically #1 is about tape behavior...IF the item is already recorded across the whole song before punching, but Im so used to DAW's that #3 makes me happiest.

hmm.... I still getting those splits.

I'm looking for an options that completely over writes the audio and the splits.

You might want to insert an empty item across the track first

So... just record 4 minutes of nothing ?

Or is there a way to generate a big item ?

This is one example of where Adobe Audition excels over Reaper.

I like the way it records - no messing around.

upload some screen shots of exactly whats happening. It sounds like more is going on than simply recording in a different mode than you want. Might want to get stashbox for uploading then come to chat. It certainly shouldn't be easier recording in cool edit, so something is going weird
