What you're trying to say is: "Vær så snill og stopp"...

And Ped, where did you learn those baaad woooords?!?!
Well, so much for online translators. :D What do expect from a language that has letters like æ. I mean is it an a, or is it an e. It seems so. . . so, undecided. :)

Well at least I didn't call myself a bald monkey.

Ok guys, I told I'd have news soon, so here we go: I'm uploading three files to the server at this very moment. Each file is a different sax solo. I didn't have a good soundfont to apply to it (I'll try to find one later) but I guess it's a start.

Please send feedback. Be honest (but not mean)! :D

Dach, I believe you're mixing everything right? The sound is dry, no effects, so it's in your hands! Take note:
- Solo 1 @ 2:20
- Solo 2 @ 3:16
- Solo 3 @ 5:01

I'll send another guitar track as soon as I record it.

Indonesia, uh James? A friend of mine has been to Jakarta once. He said it's a nice place!

'night fellows. kinda late here, and I have to get up early tomorrow. :o

Or it sounds like maybe a cymbal is hit is on the left channel, but the decay occurs on the right channel.
What you describe sounds like tape drop-out! :) That is bizarre indeed.
It happens so fast it's tough to pin down the exact sound, except that you know something wierd happened. Have you listened to the mix?
Not yet Mike. I'll D/L the new mix this evening and lend an ear.
When I isolated one of the spots where it occurs, the only thing I saw that was unusual was that one of the cymbals hits had a full measure duration. Normally that shouldn't effect anything - but I can't figure out what else might be causing this behavior.
Ah! Light goes on... :D Try sliding the cymbal hit upward out of the way to see whether or not a rogue cymbal hit is lurking beneath it... I've been caught like this before when copying and pasting. :)

Where is everybody who joined this collaboration from?
I was born in Manchester, UK and emigrated to Western Australia in 1975. I live in the hills overlooking Perth, city of lights (so named by Alan Sheppard as he orbited over Earth in his little tin can).

I play rhythm guitar on the collab.

For me it's an honour to be alongside the talents of Jagular, Dachay2tnr & Pedullist. I suppose I'm basking in their reflected glories.

Well, my latest thinking is that some of James' hits are actually triggering a reverse cymbal hit, where he intended a crash. Can't quite figure out why that might be, but it seemed to go away if I switched to a different sound font within the Blue Jay drum kit. Maybe my sound font is faulty.

Blood Shark - the original idea was that anyone who wanted to could do a mix. That's why all the files are resident on the server. (So far, however, I'm the only one that I know who has actually done one :) ). Anyway, all the files are on the server if you're interested in giving it a shot.

Also, I think another idea was that people could post duplicates of the same part, and whoever was mixing could choose the part they wanted to use.

However, since this evolved through several hundred posts over several months, I could have everything all screwed up. :D :D :D

No problem! I just thought that centralizing the mix would help. I'll put another 'quick mix' on the server and let you know.

Porter, I didn't know about the MP3 stuff, sorry for that. Just read it on your site. I'll change the files on the server.

;)

Don't worry about the VBR.. over the mix it shouldn't make much of a difference..

Fernando - I hope you didn't misunderstand me. I plan on putting together a mix using the files you uploaded.

All I meant, is that anyone *who wants to* can also put together their own mix. I guess I'm a little sensitive to being designated as the "mix person." I might choose to not use a part at all, or to keep a part very low in the mix, or season it with reverb, etc. I don't want that to be interpreted as being the "official" version of the mix. It's only MY version. If you don't like my version, then anyone can mix their own version. :)

Plus it might be cool to compare the different mixes, considering we all had the same starting material. Of course, mine will be the best. :D

BTW, you have a lot of guts (courage). I find that programming a sax in midi is the most difficult of any instrument to make realistic.

NP Mike, I understood you.

Thanks for that! :D

I know it's difficult to program the sax, and that's why I'm going to perfect it during this week and try to send another take over the weekend (I didn't like the 1st solo... I'll try to make it sound better). I think the other two are ok. Let me know if they need to be improved.

And in case you guys have a good sax soundfont (really hard to find a good one), PM me so I can send the .cwp with the MIDI track or something like that.

And if you pronounce it 'the english way'? Perhaps I should have chosen 'javanese'.

I should tell those mandipantats at http://www.insultmonger.com/swearing that they've got it wrong. :)

LOL! :D

Anyway, there's 9 different native languages in Java beside national formal language. Each is totaly different language!!! You must mean central Java language. For example, Mandi pantat means "Ass Shower/bath" in national language. In Javanese, it's Adus Brutu, while in Sundanese it's Ibak Bujur... confusing, eh? :D

Yeah, maybe we should come over and colonize you? And why not, let's take Norway too. One language, one nation! LOL :D

New files on the server. Now it's much better! (although I still didn't find a good soundfont)
Mike, don't kill me, but I didn't make the mix...
Porter, now I followed the specs on your site. :p

Hey that gives me a great idea! A BluesMeister Dub version with little else happening other than rhythm guitars and backward cymbals! :D

It certainly is confusing Jaymz, I think I ordered one of those from a local Malaysian restaurant last week :)

No problem. I'll see if I can put something together maybe this weekend.

BTW, I don't have any good sax sound fonts, but I do have a new DXi sampler called Kompakt. If you want to send me the midi track, I can try and see if the sax samples in it are any good.
