How are the Dachay's going?
We're on winter hiatus now. Our lead singer has a time share in Aruba (an island in the Caribbean, in case you didn't know). He goes there for 6 weeks each winter, right after the holidays. Next year it'll be 8 weeks. (Tough life, huh?)

A couple of years ago when he went away, we got Jagular to redo one of his vocals on a song we had recorded. You would have thought that should have taught him a lesson. But nooooooo, he ends up buying two more weeks. :)

Anyways, since he is leaving this week, I'm thinking a new Cakewalkers collaboration might be in order. Any takers??

LOL...

Count me in :D

I'm busier than the devil but I'd love to make some time to do another song with y'all if you'll have me. I'm doing a little more regular vocal demo work now so my chops are getting back in shape. I found some poor sap who wants to pay (and pretty well) me for singing LOL!!! One of his clients says I'm getting famous in Buffalo, NY because he keeps playing his demo (with me singing) all over town LOL. Time to fire up the tour bus!!!

Also, Bill was talking about CCM music above and I just got back a fully produced demo of my song "The One" which I made reference to (from the producer who is feeding me vocal work). It turned out really well. It's not Country. It's got an Alt Rock/Pop feel IMO. If you want to listen to it you can find a VBR copy here (recommended because the production sounds so good)
or you can find a 128 kbps version at my songs page http://www.johnkscott.com/songs . I did all the vocal tracks (17 used in all I think) and acoustic guitar at home. The producer added the rest. I plan to pitch this to publishers in Nashville, but it turned out so well, I may start pitching it straight to CCM radio stations. I got a few leads for that direction in the last two weeks (and I wasn't even looking for them). Funny how that happens. Hmmmm...imagine...me a recording artist? Now there's something I didn't plan for ;) :D.

Happy New Year my friends. May 2005 bring all your hopes and dreams to fruition.

:)

Next colabs? I'm in!!!

Hi Daniel, we're all fine :) The disaster didn't hit my town at all. Until today, local TVs keep playing captured moments from tourist / local amateur videos. Scary as hell!!! 80.000 dead and counting... :(

Hey, where's moskus? I thought the waves swept him away...  no?

Anyway, glad to see HR Cake forum again... :) Let's roll some more colabs! :D

I guess the big question is... original or cover? I've got a few lyrics which I can put forth.. I know Bill had one or so as well from last time..

BTW.. I've got a new site now.. which I should be able to configure for uploads of mp3's (I've got 100MB of space of which about 30Mb is currently used...) I can set up a mini forum as well for the project.

Daniel

Or John and I could get together to write one.. would be interesting ;-)

Go for it. . . but the clock is ticking. :)

"...but the clock is ticking"

That's it! We just got a title for the song!!

Now, do you have better rhyme for "Clock" "Ticking" than what's in my mind?... :o

Gotcha! :D :D :D

I can't help, it's cold & rain outside.

Hey, where's moskus anyway? Do we have to start another "Hey moskus..." thread to get his attention or what?

;)

He must be busy at work.. I used to chat to him on MSN, however since we have changed to Daylight savings (ie GMT+11, not +10), I haven't seen him on-line during my day... I'm sure he will show his head (or avitar) soon....

So John, would you be in on a writing colab?

Daniel

Well, I guess we could give it a try. Although, we need to write something that leverages the talent of the Dachay's ;). How about this. We toss around some ideas and see where it goes. If we aren't making satisfactory progress we could always fall back on a cover.

I guess I'm leaving myself an escape route since I'm so busy lately with vocal demos, co-writes & playing writers nights. It's not that I wouldn't love to do it. Just that I don't want to over promise.

So how does that sound?

Sounds good.

I'm planning on starting the Open Mic circuit here in Sydney around March. At lunch time today I found a web site that lists about 5-6 places here in Sydney to play, so I'll sus them out one week and perform the next. Should be interesting.

As for ideas, Jaymz gave a suggestion which I took to literally....

Couple of lines / ideas verse:

When we’re young,
We want to be older
Way to fast,
blah blah blah bolder/smoulder

Chorus:
The clock is ticking
And it’s heading one way
Watching the hands go around
There goes another day
Let's not live in the past
and not in the future
How about we live for today.

Ok I know the last rhyme in the Chorus isn't a true rhyme.. I'm just thowing the ball in the court.

Hey, John. Christian rock is not really my cup of tea, but this is really nice. Vocals are great!! The song is catchy. I won't comment on the lyrics - but they go with the genre. OTOH melody, production, etc., everything is right there. Might be the best thing I've heard from you.

Personally I actually like your voice better on pop stuff, than on country (although you're not too shabby on country either :) ). Well done, my friend.

Porter, not a bad start on the lyrics. You guys are really ambitious if you want to both collaborative write a song AND arrange and record it. However, I'm up for a challenge (although I think you might need to count me out on the songwriting aspect). We should get Toki involved in this. Toki does some real nice beds that I always felt could be dynamite with some vocals and lead instruments on top. Plus, he can do the bass track as well.

You listening to this Kenny?? :)
