What happened to the Cakewalk Forum indeed...

:D

Well, I'll post some news...

Since I have some old friends here that I don't see in other places I just thought I'd share.

The main reason I don't hang around here or the "other forum" LOL... nearly as much as I used to is that I came to the realization that I needed to spend a lot more of my very limited time writing songs rather than recording them. I did learn enough to get pretty decent sounding guitar/vocal demos though. Well, it has started paying off (not in money, but in progress). I just signed and mailed my first single song publishing contract yesterday. I signed my song "When the Sun Rose, I Fell" which I co-wrote with David Graham & Kenny Shore to a small Nashville publisher (you can hear it here http://www.johnkscott.com/songs if you want). This publisher has been around for awhile and they have approximately a 1500 song catalogue and their parent company has connections in the music industry in areas other than publishing. As far as I know they have had no major label placements as a publisher.

Chances are this will not lead to anything financially successful (man I'd love to be wrong :D) but what this should lead to is more opportunity to network & co-write with writers I wouldn't have gotten an opportunity to before arranged through the publisher. Plus they do little seminars & stuff too. Plus, they may actually do a full demo of it. Right now they are using my guitar/vocal demo :D.

Not a big deal, but a step in the right direction.

I trust everyone else here is doing well?

Cheers!!

:)

Well I have"nt been posting a lot lately because the new warden is a prick and keeps sending me to the "hole" and suspending my internet privileges. There may be some consequences at my parole hearing, but if things don't go well I'll bust out of this joint and I'll be able to post whenever I want to....

Look at me MA,I'm on top of the world!!!

Guitar - Martin HD-35 stereo mic'd with matched pair MXL 603s, coincident pair set up one pointed at 14th fret turned slightly in toward the soundhole, the other pointed right behind the bridge, both about 6-8 inches out. M-Audio Audiobuddy preamp into M-Audio 1010lt.

Vocal same chain except I used a AKG C535EB mic (which I'm not particularly fond of, but it's what I have).

2. echo Layla
3. m-audio monitors
4. carvin cobalt acoustic guitar
5. DRD-R drive

Nice tune Jagular

Hey Jagular, Thanks again for gracing me with your free Pro quality music ;) I think Im going to record a song, eventually, I wrote years ago which has a Strong Christian content. When I do Ill let you know and maybe you can take it and twist it some, kind of make it your own, you know johnscottish. When it came to me I felt it was inspired and it also has a story to go with it. I sure would like to hear it done by someone who can actually sing. Which Im not and you definitely are :D Hey one more thing, nice sound and playing out of that martin and 603's

Best of luck with your writing, your one of the best talents on the BBS and you certainly deserve any financial reward you obtain

Can I get an Amen choir?

Peace
Wfaraoni

Awww shucks!!!

Thanks guys. :D

Hey Bill - I'd love to hear it. I've been writing a fair amount of CCM type music lately. In fact I just put up a song titled "The One" on my site a couple weeks ago. This song is currently being arranged & produced by a producer in New York (for free - it's a long story LOL) wtih me singing. I look forward to hearing it when it is done. I'm hoping I can find a place to pitch it here in Nashville. The CCM market may be even harder to break into than Country LOL. Shoot it to me when you want. I'd love to hear it.

 can a choir be made up of 2? wheres the back up singers?

Merry Christmas to All

Guys I haven't fallen off the face of the Earth, even though it feels like that some times.

With a new job being bussier than my previous and trying to write more songs I've been spending more time over in the other location (the songwriter forum over there seems more supportive, no offence to the one here).

I checked it out before I logged on. It had been over a month since my last visit. I won't make it as long between subsequent visits!

I hope everyone had a good Christmas!

Jaymz, when I heard that the effected region of the earthquake/tsunami included the Indonesia, the first person I thought of was you.. unfortunately I didn't get time to log onto a computer for a couple of days and by then you had posted, so I knew you were OK. I hope all of your family is OK.

I heard about John's good news, I've spoke to Moskus a few times in the last month (in a MSN way).

Mike, how have you been?

Who else have I forgotten?

Hope you guys have a good New Year. I'm having a quiet one at home with the Misses and a few bottles of wine ;-) Plus Mike, I'm a little closer than you to New Years ;-)

Hope everyone is going good,

Daniel

I don't know, Daniel... seems you make an appearance here and suddenly the site crashes for a week. Hmmmm. . . coincidence??

Just kidding. Good to see you around again.

Hey Mike,

Late here, so I've literally just popped in.. How are the Dachay's going?
