Hey, there's an idea. Ultimately we could have a "mix-off" using all of these tracks!! :p :p

Haven't you read the web page????

Once all tracks have been recorded, each mp3 track will be made available to everyone so we can all have a go at mixing the song. Once that is done, we can vote on who has the best mix of the song and that version will be the 'official version'.

who was it that said the internet would make things faster and easier?

That latest rhythm track was actually recorded as separate L&R mono tracks. The arpeggioed chords are on the R track and general rhythm mayhem on the L track.

There are occasional "double-tracked" arpeggios where I've strummed Ebmaj7 on both tracks.

I don't suppose it matters if the track is split into two monos or mixed down to a single mono track. It's in your hands Mike.

Frank - I'll have to check it out a little closer. On quick inspection the L and R seemed to be the same to me. If they are different, I will keep them as separate mono tracks. As I said, I didn't have a lot of time to spend with it yesterday. Maybe I will over the weekend.

But the first time through you need to iron out problems and subsequent efforts will be quicker.... besides, if the internet didn't exist we wouldn't have 'met' each other and be doing this...

Frank - I checked it out in more detail this weekend, and I am 99-44/100% sure that the left and the right tracks are identical. There sounds like there are two guitars playing, but both guitars are on both tracks.

Did you pan the tracks hard L & R before creating the .mp3? Sounds like maybe both were centered upon mixdown.

Anyway, I should be able to work with it as is.

So, should I be expecting tracks from anyone else in the not to distant future?? :)

You got it in one Mike. I didn't pan before mixing down. Bad Frank, naughty Frank... (Engages in frantic bout of self-flagellation).

I also listened to the BPOM Rhythm MP3 yesterday for the first time. Trust me, it sounds much better with other noises happening around my playing.

One thing that recording does (apart from shredding my nerves that is) is point out the sloppiness in my playing.

Of course, HomeStudio2004XL will fix all of this. :)

Hello again

Hey Y'all, (learned that when I moved to Texas),I just got back from reformatting my recording pc. That really sucks Its taken over a week to reconfigure things to work somewhat together. There is an upside I guess. Its pretty clean and runs faster so I guess I can really push things to drop out now :) I put in an order for Sonar 3 and put laminate flooring through 3/4 of my house (with my bad back). That is on top of viruses and regular work which has been overwhelming lately. I also bought my wife a new car and got a triton le 76 :) :) .so Now im in debt up to my ears But its time to get back to recording so I hope to get into the swing of things pretty soon.
looks like you are slowly making headway here.
Ill talk at ya later
I also posted a rough draft of the day by day song to nowhere Mark buster and I did this as a collab from the mixing clinic. He kind of made a hard rock thing out of my guitar ballad which is cool cause ive been stuck in a style of my own for almost 40 years :) I played the acoustic and sang the very overflanged main vox. needs mucho work yet Ill give ya the link when it gets done.

Id ask what song were working on but thats been used too much already LOL

Peace
Bill

Say Bill,

Welcome back to the fold. Aren't PCs wonderful... My AcerView 79g 17" monitor decided to stop working last week. I'm currently using a borrowed 15" monitor and it's a real strain - everything's so tiny...

So how does the new flooring look? Does everybody have to walk around the house in stockinged feet in case they leave scuff marks? :)

How do you feel about the hard-rock version of your ballad? Does it sit comfortably with you?

You know, sometimes I think songs take on a direction of their own. Occasionally, they can lead you to somewhere you don't particularly want to go. Other times, everything falls into place, and it feels so right. When you find that groove, you cain't do no wrong!

I've got dozens of tune fragments on my PC, all waiting for their own particular groove. One day I'll be able to finish off something...

You know that's God telling you to get a LCD monitor, right? ;)

You've been a busy boy now haven't you Bill? :D

Man...you must have stored up some brownie points by doing that flooring AND buying your wife a new care :D. Congrats on the new purchases too.

Hope that virus goes away soon.

Take care

The thought had crossed my mind, Moskus. :)

I'm waiting for the repair chappie to give me the news regarding the cost to fix it. That 17" CRT is one heavy mother. I've knackered my back several times lifting it so that Mrs BluesMeister can dust the desk top.

Sometimes I think that women just don't understand the value of dust...

I've got a 19" & 15" at home... if either broke I would have to replace them straight away.. and if the 15" broke, I'd have to get another 19" :D ...or LCD

In saying all that, I love my 21" monitor at work.. everyone at work is issued with 17" monitors however when we acquired another company, there were a couple of 21" monitors, so I got me one... sorry, just had to blab.

Your wife cleans your 'studio'??? My missus doesn't think of cleaning it... it's left to me, I don't want her to harm any of the equipment ;)

Well that's my excuse anyway.

I'm staring at a Philips Brilliance 201B 21" monitor :) It's because I'm the only person here using AutoCAD. The senior engineer got really frustrated trying to see detail on my small screen so one day he issued an instruction to the IT Manager to get me this monster.

The downside is that it is humongous, takes up a great deal of my desk and weighs as much as a small aircraft carrier.
