Great tune, but I get the feeling that the 3878 KB I got was the "B" version :(
It sounds like a dub from a cassette tape that just went through your washer-dryer combo. Like one long stretched-out drop-out.
With the shreds of what once was there sprinkled along the way.
The same sort of artifacts I got when I tried to make a CD out of a cassette from 1976 that had been stored in a Honda Civic glove compartment through 6 hot summers without A/C. Well- you did mention 1974..... :)

I was kinda' drunk Thurs Nite when I put this simple tune 2-gether. I simply plugged the bass direct into my board and used
my Yamaha PSR340 for the vibes & horns (run thru the 505).
Panned left,I mic'd a Crate amp with a Strat playin' simple bar-chords thru a Dunlop wah into DI using a Rodent NT1. Panned rite, I just ran the lead git into a pod then to board. Or sumthin'
like that, I don't really remember; I was feelin' kinda' NICE!

Very excellent Qtip. I noticed the beer induced timing differential on the vibes. That happens to me too. Seems perfect while it’s happening, but the next day, there it is. I downloaded it, but was unable to save. My bass sucks. When I go direct it sounds like hell. Sounds like hell any other way too. It used to sound great through a Bassman. Maybe the pickups are shot. I don’t know…just need a new bass. It’s amazing how good those mid-range keyboards sound. I have a Casio/Radio Shack type of low-end keyboard and I just use it instead of the high-end keyboards I have that just sit there and stare back at me. What medium did you record to, tape or hard drive?
 
It has that Lalo Schifrin sound.

The horns sound like synth horns though. The Vibes sound like you had 3 six packs :-)
 
I like the guitar and bass work.

It was very creative of you to process the brass that way.

You could improve the realism of the brass section by adding more dynamics. Try programming some swells and sforzandi, especially when the brass is holding a note for awhile.

Just chased down the problem. My cat must've turned up the "suck" knob on my stereo. And your tune wasn't the only victim. I thought my Sound Canvas had lost its mind! I actually had out the manual and was searching for a sysx message to fix the weirded out sounds that were emanating from the monitors.
One more reason to get a plain old amplifier instead of a receiver as a monitoring solution. Too many friggin' buttons on the receiver. I didn't even know there WAS a suck knob! I think Slack needs to get with SONY and find out if they've infringed his patent.

But back to the tune. I was jamming along with the nice vibe when I sensed someone playing vibes getting seriously lost and the whole thing sounding like a drstawl tune. (~2:50) But you've got the ADAT advantage of being able to cut out that section like a pair of infected tonsils and redo the vibe part. Maybe add a flute solo....

I wanna hear some more of this stuff.....
 
Thx Rob! Yeah doc, i was gonna snip out part of the vibes,but since I didn't put in that much effort into the song,I didn't really
want to waste to much time on it.Especially since i'm working on 4-5 songs that are far superioir to this. This is just sumthin I threw 2-gether on the cheap! Thx!

Pretty cool Q. Some of the horn part distort, for whatever reason.

Nice funky bass, really like the rhythm/beat/accents your playing there. Dig the wah guitars.

The bell/vibrophone thing sounds a bit overbearing in places.

The drummer sounds damn good for a machine!

The horns sound cool to.

Overall, great to hear some music from you Q. Nice Job!
 
Hey Q, great to finally hear from you. It's funny how much more informed I feel I am about who you are (or anyone else for that matter) after listening to one of your tunes.

I don't really know what more to say that hasn't already been said. It's a great sounding tune. I wish I could "throw something together" as well as this.

I think overall its a fantastic effort. As Emeric said, the vibes get a little overbearing at times, but that's no big deal. Of course I also noticed the timing issues as well, but that's already been discussed.

I am very impressed Q...well worth the rate, my friend. I eagerly await more...and it better be soon mister!

I liked it.

the only thing I heard that was messing with my neck-bop was the off-time vibes and sometimes the horns sounded like they were running away from the mic and then quickly getting right up on it.

Otherwise it was a cool listen.

I look forward to hearing the other stuff you're working on.
