Hey guys i need some help/advice

Okay so i record and upload podcast for my church witch im doing just fine im just having this awful problem were static is coming threw the line like awful this is recorded with a shure lapel so heres a copy of the recording so can somebody give me some tips on how to fix it

What's your microphone plugged into, would be a good start. How are you actually recording?

By "fix" are you talking about fixing this recording, or about working out how not to have it happen next time the lord speaks through you?

it runs from the board into the computer im looking for a way to get rid of it because even when i audio edit i can get a lot of it out but not all of it

I think bongo was having a joke, how does the sound get from the board to the computer? Have you got an interface?

There is a 60/120 Hz hum in there but no big spike on the spectrum but the average level is way too low, around -45,-50 and it just about peaks to -20dBFS.

This tells me that the mic level is way too low and gains are being cranked and hum and noise, probably in the mixer, being brought up. Is the lapel mic unbalanced perchance?

A note about words? I don't know about the rest of the world but the term "static" (as a noise) here in UK means a crackly.hissy noise of the type you used to get as interstation noise on old AM radio. General unwanted sound is defined as "noise" with qualifications such as hum, LF noise of single or at most 3 discrete frequencies and aperiodic "white" noise or hiss.

Computer sound recording is a very technical subject and words matter IMO....." All bugs are insects but not all insects are by any means bugs!"
