Hey man,

Just got my new Recording mag (courtesy of my TAXI membership) and saw your letter to TAXI re: the 2000 Road Rally. Damn, wish I knew you were gonna be there! We could've hooked up!

Oh well, I had a good time. Meeting Lamont Dozier was pretty cool and I loaded up on the free goodies. I hung out in the bar for a while with some pretty damned talented people (they locked the piano on Sunday because the people from the rally who were tickling the ivories were making the house piano player look bad :) )

Anyway, sorry I missed you. Maybe next year.

Yeah, TAXI lifted stuff out of what you wrote and made it sort of look like a letter. It was stuck in there with all the other letters saying "Dear Taxi. I had such a great time at the Road Rally..."

Anyway, at the time I joined TAXI, they gave away a free year subcription of Recording magazine with your membership. Taxi doesn't publish it, but they do have a relationship (I think the mag was a sponser of the RR)
So, if you get the mag because you are a TAXI member, it comes with their newsletter pasted into it like it was part of the magazine - if you buy it off the newstand, it won't have the 5 page taxi insert.

BTW-did you see me at the Road Rally? I was the guy that did not get his CD played at any of the pitch panels! :D

P.S. Did you stay at the hotel? I didn't because I am local. Just curious how the rooms were if you stayed there. Seemed like a pretty nice joint.

Oh, ok. Yeah, I'm sure I wrote Michael a thank you letter. Didn't know anything about it being published though.

I'm not a Taxi member. Michael just contacted me and invited me to come and check things out.

As far as the pitch panels, I was there. I thought it was interesting to see the tables turned and the people in the audience rating stuff rather than just the panelists.
