Hey analoggers - look what I found

It might be worth trying the mic inputs as guitar or mic pres, perhaps with an impedance matching transformer on a mic or just adapting the XLR to TS.

I've got TS-RCA cables that are only a little younger than that deck. They were common in those days, especially the skinny grey cables with molded ends from Radio Shack.

There's a pretty good chance the rubber parts and/or the motor's lube have dried up. The mechanicals will probably need service.

About the price of a case of beer, ................... However the look of it sitting next to the Larva Lamp is ................. Priceless!

I'm pretty anti lava lamps. I hate that cliche studio hippie shit. A larva lamp does sound cool though.

you can connect it to anything that'll take a line input.
I have one of those BTW ....... I use it to play old tapes on. You probably don't have many of those so it might not really be of much use to you.

I've got a whole box full of Bob Seger and Three Dog Night reels. Which is kind of disappointing because I remember my dad having better taste in music than that. :laughings:

I need to have a little talk with him.

I also remember him being really into the quadrophonic setup, or whatever it was. I remember being a little kid and watching him hang speakers in the corners of our living room. Then after like 3 days of running wires and shit, he put a chair in the middle of the room and told me to sit in it. Then he played Frankenstein or something like that and I remember the sound swirling around the room. I thought it was pretty cool.
 
I got stacks of country reels with my inherited decks. Make of that what you will!
 
My first 'multitrack' -- with 'sound on sound' -- was a TC -255, a Best Buy in Consumer Reports magazine, beating out many big names at the time.
 
I duno how well they record, but the playback on that tc645 really really surprised me!

if you are interested and have a surround sound set up with your DVD player I can supply you with a little Quad - maybe even Frankenstien.

I still have the wine-bottle candles, hippie coffee table and spiral art poster, but they don't seem to be attracting the same kind of women they used to. . . It must be my sound system. . .

Lt. Is it the quad LP mixed by Alan Parsons? I'm not keen on the new 5.1 version.
It's really cool - WYWHere is pretty good in quad as well.
Here's a weird one - Janis Ian's Between the Lines is superb in quad.

Yeah ..... it's from way back ..... it's quad vinyl.

I don't have the gear to play it. Gotta have a special cart and a decoder.
 
I've just finished listening to Frankenstein in Quad.
Not too bad at all. Not a very exciting mix but not bad & refreshing to listen to an old track in a different form.
Lt. you can download the prson's Quad mix to burn to DVDR & play it through a surround sound system. It's pretty cool in an old hippy way - then again life wasn't so hippy when they put it out - a bit of competition from Glam etc I think.
