Very nice arrangement. I believe that I would center that piano because its so bright, which does sound good
and keep everything else working around it like it is. The way it is now it seems to making the left side of the mix a bit heavier than the right.

Thats just me..if you didnt do another thing you would be absolutely O K! :)

Whoa, really really coooooool. Vox do need to come up, but I won't rehash it (the tone of the voice....creamy, it needs to be present). Good God, I thought it was a mistake there around 2:00, but that break is wicked bad. Just keeps it driving harder. The drums during the fast parts take on the Led Zeppelin feel with the piano part behind. I was listening through headphones, and the panning was awesome. It sounds so FULL. Piano is the perfect volume (the intro sounded too funky, but it just works when the spaced out guitar kicks in). . Kick and snare match great. Through the headphones, the bass sounds a little muddy (not tonewise, but it's hard to pick out its part in the song). But after relistening, it's there. It's low, but you'd know if it weren't there (plus these cheezy ass headphones do a cruddy job of reproducing the LOWS). Good stuff.

Thanks again everyone.

Emeric: The bass is a 4 string. We tune to E flat.

Pglewis: I'm not really happy with the way the vox turned out, but if you like em, thats cool!! A U87 through a Neve 1272 was used (which I would not recommend)..I really really wish I had tried out different pres and mics..but this was such a rush job, oh well.

Again thanks for the feedback, when I mix this again, I'll definetly take into consideration the suggestions here.

ametth,

I'm not qualified to give any technical critique, but I can say that you have a beautiful voice. It's sort of a cross between Cheryl Crow, and Edie Brickell. Which is a compliment in my opinion. I hope it is in yours too. :)

Well, thank you...but thats not my voice (I am the male voice though)...I always thought she was a mix between Fiona Apple and Bjork. Thanks for the compliments!

If you can mix Fiona Apple and Bjork, put the concoction into a bottle and send it to me. I think my heart would burst, and the glow would illuminate three cities.

I think this is (almost) perfect. The bridge at 'bout 2:15, compositionaly absolutely invigorating, this part is awsome, the drums need to come up, the piano needs to come down, to be smaller, then back up when the vocals come in. (Turn your voice up there Matthew for chist sakes!) after that the break with that noise at 'bout 3:15 kinda leaves me, it comes off to clean, I'd like (her) a little more sloppy please. tease me, don't give it to me yet.... make that last chorus make me want more not just end the song.

Yes the ride is nice, what ride is it specifically, and did you mic it, or is that all in the o'heads? Love that snare sound too... bass sounds awsome... guitar and piano fit, The voice... hmmm. Works for me... the performance could be just a slight bit better,

This is a very good recording. Singer's voice up a tad..maybe. That piano riff is really hmmm? what's the word I'm looking for? Brilliant!!!!
