I worked on this for a while the other day and forgot to hit save like a genious, so I had to redo it yesterday... And I was able to keep the first takes... of both the guitars and the vocals... That never happens.

Taylor 410CE
1 sm81 on guitar 6 in from the 12th fret.
1 sm57 at the bridge pointed toward the soundhole
(mics panned 50/50)
Pickup is in the center.
Vox are AT3035 (also center)

I'm trying to finish a full album since I've been promissing people for a long time that I would..

Any suggestions for this mix?

Thanks.

- Luke.

Wow--nice work here.I like the way the acoustic sounds--I really like the sound of that Taylor. The voice is just right too.I can't think of anything wrong with this.Isn't it fun to have to re-do when all is lost
Damnit I can't afford another guitar right now

Thanks. I recorded the guitar tracks pretty hot, compressed them a bit and limited each one individual.. I was trying to make it punchy.. I was happy with the result.

Its hard to be objective though.. If I'm gonna dish out money for mastering I want to make sure the mix is good enough.

Really nice sound you have here - both guitar and vocals. Cool songwriting too - with interesting chord progressions and leads.... I would say it's ready for mastering. And your first take that was lost was probably no good anyway LOL....good recovery ..... Would be nice to hear the differences between mix and master when it's done if you would be so inclined......

Sure.. Can any mastering engineers give me a quote on 10 songs.. about 40 minutes?

What type of pres?

And...I'm going to make a suggestion that has nothing to do with the mix but with the song itself. It may be difficult to explain but I'll try.

The first time you sing "Here's to you" and "Here's to me" you keep the "You" and "Me" short. All subsequent times you sing both "You" and "Me" longer and change pitch...I don't like it. It seems to take "something" away from emotion of the song. It may sound small and insequential BUT if you take the time to change this (if it was me I'd simply keep them all as the first) and see what you think.

Thanks for the feedback.
The pre's are presonus... The old dual channel bluetube on the guitars and the single channel tubepre on the vox.
