Damn, this is fun!

So my next .mp3 came out to 9.62 Meg and I can't figure out how to get it down to 9.54 so I can upload it.

Any idees?

Nervermind, I got it.

I recorded this one by myself around 1995 using a tascam 8 track r-r.
Prophet V
Kord DDD-1
Archaic sequencer program that I cannot even find the name of.

I am limited again to working with a stereo mix, so this is forcing me to put my mastering engineer hat on.
I applied some compression and limiter.
Lead vocal is a little hot, I need help eq’ing it.
There is a blank section in the middle where I need to add a solo.

Sony Sound Forge again,
I am going to be using ProTools to track my new stuff after I get done cleaning up some
of this old business that has been bugging me for the past couple of years to get back into this.

Thanks for the info, I'll check out dropbox.
I think the link above is ok now.

No it doesn't work for me. That's the problem. This site is always having technical glitches, server problems, and incosistent general functionality. That link might work for you or someone else, and does nothing for me and others. That's why it's best to use an outside host. It will work for everyone.

Got it, I'll do that next.

Lol. Holy crap. What year is it anyway? That's not too bad for a 17 yr old mix. I've got some old analog recordings from the early 90's and I don't even have a way to get them into the digital realm. Hell, I don't even know where they are.

Anyway, kudos for posting up.

Totally 80s style. It should of been a new wave hit lol.

Thanks, man.

Dude I think we are from the same planet. You are my density. I had the DDD-5 and a prophet 2000. What the heck is that guitar sound? I think its the same effect pedal as 90% recordings from the late 80s. The vocals remind me a little of a cross between stan ridgeway and one of my best buddies and former bandmates. Please take that as a compliment.

My guitar effect was a Boss ME-5, it just took me like a half hour to google it and figure out what it was.
I ran a '65 strat through it into a '65 princeton reverb and mic'd it with an SM57.

You bring up a great point, the way music sounds is dictated by the equipment of the day.
It seems that the equipment I'm seeing now is geared towards Dubstep.
I own the NI Komplete synth series, but Massive and the others sound very dark and one dimensional to me.

My P-5 was modified with midi connection so I could sequence.
I just recently acquired P-53 (NI's discontinued P-5 software) and I already own Arturia's complete vintage synth collection.
I find the sounds of the vintage analogue synths to be much more open, melodic and to my liking.
I also think they have a broader template of "special" sounds.

I am getting back into music due to the digital revolution.
Effects units like the 11r and AXE FX, digital recording software with plug-in instruments and effects, all have the prospect of making this fun for me again.
Steep learning curve, though!

I've got a couple other cool pieces I will put up later.
And then I am pretty excited to start recording some new material.
Thanks for the kind words, Stan Ridgeway is a God. ;)
