here to bring 'misery'

The production sounds very good, and I wish my singing was as "bad" as yours ;)

Not my style of music, but very impressive.

There are a few ways to get patch settings out of your POD 2.0 (which I agree is a great toy).

You can use software (either SoundDiver which comes with the POD, or PatchWizard, which is a bit better and fairly cheap). You have to connect your PC to your POD via MIDI, but once that's done you can play with different settings *much* more easily than with the POD alone. You also get a bit more control over some detailed parameters you can't get at through the knobs and buttons.

Or, you can use the manual method (detailed on page 6.2 of the user guide). Basically you press *and hold* the SAVE button, then turn any knob. The wee arrows light up to tell you which way to turn the knob to get to the current setting. When both arrows light up, you're there! I think it should work for all the knobs, but not the Tap Tempo setting.

Hey, Gag. In terms of EQ settings and effects, I'm not any help. I try to avoid both as much as possible (mainly because I don't know what I'm doing with them). My advice is to spend more time getting the sound you want when recording so you don't have to toy with it on the board...

Also, I finally got the chance to check your tune. Very cool (though obviously a different style than where we're coming from). Personally I really liked your guitar tones and don't think you need any advice from me or anyone else ;) I thought the kit on your drum machine was a little aggressive for this song. My only other thought was that the vocals could maybe be in a higher register -- I think they would carry better and add a little more power to the song. Really cool guitar riff -- I love suspensions and minor 6ths and all that. Very emotive.

And alibish -- thanks for taking the time to listen and post. And the POD tips are great! I'm not a 'manual' guy so it would've taken me a while to figure out that settings thing. I'm hoping to take some time this weekend and see what my settings are so I can share with everyone. Thanks again.

Killer tune, I totaly dig this! Gave me flashes of earlier alternative wonderment, man I miss thoughs days. I was actualy listening to an earlier Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins) demo that he made with a drum machine before I popped this in. This was really nice. Surprised me actualy. This was, after all, my first download from here. The advise that I can think of offering is only one thing: I would love to hear something else added in to make it feel more ambient and alive. Like mabey some tastfuly placed guitar feedback before the last chorus or another solid part of the song...or mabey even a bad ass guitare slide placed somewhere--I don't know, I just listened again and it still sounds killer.

thanks man I hear where your comin from in regards to the vocals I'll have to experiment a bit. When you mentioned the drums did you mean kik or overall kit ? thanks again , Gag

Gag, I was thinking the kit overall. I actually like the kit sound in general (what drum machine/module are you using?), I just thought with the feel of the song you might want something a little more natural or less 'produced' sounding. Just personal preference though... Later.

hey mare hows it going..anyways I'v been using the alesis sr16 and I spent hours learning the freakin thing as I mentioned I'm mainly a git player so I set the machine up for a standard sound that I thought was okay and left it or planned on leaving it because trying I'm to finish a batch of songs with out having to diddle around to much. It never occurred to me to consider different drum sounds and or tones for different tunes , good call I don't know if I'll change them as I have enuff problems learning to type better let alone producing. lol.. But I can certainly see where your going with the advice and once again I appreciate it alot, thanks man be talking to ya , chow gag
