i have vegas pro and when i record it says that i am using microsoft sound mapper and that it doesn't work with this application or something like that. Another problem i am having is that i can't record something on track 1 and then record on track 2 and listen to track 1 at the same time. i have simultaneous play and record checked. can someone please help me. PLEASE.

hey,

Goto Options- Preferences- Routing, and select custom bus routing. Your sound driver should be there.

For playback make sure the wav out is going to yer sound card.

later,
rod

thanks

i can play back but i can't play back and record at the same time.

Do you have a full duplex sound card? If not, you can't record and play at the same time.

i'm using version 1.0 with a soundblaster soundcard (the cheaper one)

The SB card should be full duplex.

Make sure that Vegas is set up for play and record.

Check in PROPERTIES and PREFERENCES.

:D

Let us know what happens. :)

hmmm.

i have all of that taken care of. i have an older computer that runs off of like pentium 1 or 2. it doesn't have that much memory either. do you think that might be the problem?

That probably is the problem.

It also sounds like your card is not full duplex.

Check the Sound Blaster site for the specs on your soundcard.

You might want to consider upgrading to newer used computer (if it's in your budget). And... a newer version of Vegas.

Just my $0.02 ;)

Spin's probably right there, I think any Sound Blaster before the Live was not true duplex; even the AWE 64 was only a half-assed sort of almost-full duplex -- it could only play back in reduced fidelity while recording...

ok. i guess i'm just gonna have to bite the bullet and get a new set up. i'll tell you how it goes in the not so distant future. thanks for all of your advice once again. you have been helpful.
