So i recently bought a m audio mtrack as my first interface, I'm not looking to do frequent or stupendious quality recording , but enfough for some demo work, I currently only run direcly into it from my 7 string passive guitar through the main guitar input, and into the headphone jack using a 1/4-1/8 adapter to my razer black sharks , I know this isnt ideal, as I wish to use the monitor outputs , however i just want to get a set of cheap monitors that will work with the main outputs on it, as well as how is live8, and ignite for a daw?

also some recommendations for cheap monitors that will work with it?

Well, what kind of a budget do you have? Unfortunately for us HR hobbyists, the lowest-end of "cheap" studio monitors tends to be around $200-$300. It sucks that you can't pick up a sweet pair of monitors for like $100, but that's just how it is. Until you get back to us with your budget, I can definitely recommend buying used. You can get more bang for your buck.

my budget is 300 and under, starting out i dont want to get top of the line monitors, however Ideally I plan on eventually building a set up like keith merrows.

Hey,
I wouldn't worry too much about monitors.
I mean, it is one of the most important things but, based on what you're doing and the level you're at, I'd take a look in the free adds for some decent hi-fi speakers and a nice enough amp (denon/marantz/yamaha etc).

I'm actually buying a marshall next saturday from guitarcenter so i have a decent amp comming, and what do you mean free adds?

I didn't mean that kind of amp.
I meant rather than buying cheap monitors, just buy decent hifi speakers and amps.

Free adds, local classifieds, dad's attic.....that kind of thing. :)
