ALright. So I rap right? I write up alot of lyrics :p and now I want a mic so I could plug it in2 ma computer and record ma songs.

???

u.k. people what shop do I get the mic from? and which make is the best? :D

Not good enough.

Does your computer provide 48v to your mic?

Perhaps not?

Maybe a USB microphone?

We need to know a little more about what you want and what you've already got before we point you anywhere.

I don't do Rap so am not sure on which mics are best for it, but If u want somethin to plug straight into your computer then u want a USB mic like this...

http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/c-o1u-usb-condenser-mic/68429

GAK is quite a cheap online store and deliver quickly.

or Thomann (based in Germany) are also cheap. They do USB mics like this

http://www.thomann.de/index.html?partner_id=97926&page=gb/samson_q1u.htm

But to be honest you need to tell us more... like your budget, the quality you are after etc. Also you might want to do a search on what type of mics i.e dynamic or condenser are best used for rap. I'm guessing u'll definately need a pop filter for rap vocals to eliminate the plosives.

Hope this helps.

yeh that helped alot. Didn't know u could get USB mics LOL thats awesome.

I guess I do want a USB mic. I really dont wanna spend over £20.....

i was like you once, trust me your gonna wanna upgrade in a couple weeks, your better off buying an audiophile 2496 interface n m-powered protools n a good condenser mic, instead of having to upgrade n upgrade n upgradeit may be expensive at first, but its cheaper in tha long run...

Northern Cali is right, I myself found the more i progressed the more pissed off i became with my cheap gear, and even now my gear is still pretty average. But if you don't wanna spend more than £20 then that aint an option for you so I guess you've got to decide if (a) its worth waiting and saving up for some good gear, or (b) go short term and be content with poorer quality recordings. Depends on your individual needs. If you go with option b then you could always do it the simplest way and buy a cheap dynamic like this http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/peavey-/71327 and connect to a computer using an XLR to headphone size jack cable, then go straight through the PC's own mic socket. But don't expect great results with this method. But if all u need is to hear your stuff back then this may be the way to go. will cost at most £30.

whats with all the noobs lately?

there is a newbies section where we won't rag on you...

dude, 20 euros, i know its like not even $40 US, is not gonna get you much at all.

im 16 too so dont gimme that excuse that you dont have a job etc etc etc :)

and the rap thing is cool and all, but err... no reason to not spell the word 'my' or 'you' on an internet forum where you want people to take you seriosuly..

Isn't it a bit rich that TragikRemix is calling somebody out on their spelling?
I mean, this is an internet forum and as much as it pains me to see bad spelling and punctuation the blind leading the blind is just so tragically amusing.
The last time I checked, the word you used 'cant' has an apostophe and seriously certainly isn't spelled seriousuly, and the 'word' gonna isn't really a word Tragik.
Maybe stick to audio comments until you actually have any idea of grammer, spelling or linguistics in general

That was pretty stupid man. Irrespective of spelling criticisms (and I think Tragik had more of a problem with the text-message speak and abbreviations), you've just cut yourself off from a wealth of good advice. I can guarantee you that Tragik Remix knows more about audio than you or I, and your comment was way out of line. I think you should apologise.

You can't get a whole lot for $40. My suggestion is just to find a friend nearby with a project studio. I'm sure they'll be happy to record you and you'll like the results much more. I know it's homerecording.com, but it never speicifies whose home you're recording in :)

lol...does bad spelling really bother sombody that much...

it doesn't bother me THAT much; i just think it's a bit much when somebody tries to correct somebody else and their admonishing post is littered with bad spelling...

I'm quite serious. You've posted what, a staggering 23 times? Having a shot at people who have been here a lot longer is just going to cause unnecessary problems. And with regard to grammar, it's just as easy to post with correct spelling, the result being a more coherrent exchange of information.

hey hey hey, its ok.

look dude, if you want to get technical, i wasnt looking at his puncuation or grammar or spelling, but the intentional slang.

i hate it so much because its all i hear in school and you would too.

'ma' 'ur' and letters written LiKe DiS really friggin tick me off, and all the rest too. anybody that uses a letter like '3' instead of an 'E' is jsut plain stupid to me.

i'll still throw my audio comments in everywhere, thanks for the praise Tele :)

i'm not that great with this stuff ;)

1) Yeh Im thinking...I do want a good quality mic so Yeh I guess over £20 would be cool ;)
