yeah im kind of new to recording i've actually recorded before and i don't think its that bad to be my first time. So my question is how can i record drums but getting the sound of the mics of the drums in separate tracks(i.e. when i lpay it if i only want to listen to the snare or the bass drum or the hi hat etc.) in my pc in the software that im using.

well i use about 6 mics bass drum. snare. hi hats. toms. floor toms.
and im using cool edit pro 2.0. i also uso an 8 channel mixer. the way i recorded it was i had to equalize the whole drum set in the mixer because it recorded it in the pc a one track only the whole set.

You would need a multi-input soundcard. each mic on each drum would go to its own input of the soundcard. Then each input of the soundcard would go to it's own track.

xm - if you have a pc look at a delta multi input sound card or similar.
eg : terratec, emu, maya,staudio.com etc etc .
try the multitrack software i like. powertracks from pgmusic.com.
48 tracks on a pc for 29 bucks. talk to folks on the user forum at pg if you think i'm lying.
