Yo Burn:
I don't think there is any "absolutely" right place for micing your amp. Depends on the room, your gear, etc.
But, here is something for you to try and see what happens.
Run your guitar directly into an RNC or your compressor and from the compressor into your recording gear.
Do the same with the bass.
You can do the reverb, if needed, and eq tweaking after you have the tracks done.
I have GK amp, small but very good -- sometimes I run a bass into the amp which has a direct through. So, it doesn't come out of the speaker but the sound goes directly into a compressor or the recording gear.
Lots of things for you to try and see "what happens."
