AW-16g users. Hopefully somebody knows about this "old" machine.
I have one to test, and probably buy, but I'm just trying to test the CD-RW drive. But I can't figure out how to get a song into the record page track list. I did all the CD set-up., and I have songs in the master Songs section track list, but there's something about assigning virtual tracks to track channels, to somehow enable a song to appear in the recording track list, and it's very confusing in the manual, and I can't get it to register. Maybe I'm missing something simple.
Any help out there? I think this machine will do good work for me once I verify that everything works.

Thanks
Bud

Hey Bud,

Great machine--I've been using one happily for about 7 years. When you add a song to your CD burn list, it'll use whichever virtual track you have currently have highlighted in the Monitor/Stereo Track area. If you want to read more detailed directions, head over to one of the friendliest forums in town, dedicated to Yamaha DAWs:

http://forum.dijonstock.com/

You'll find a helpful section there for new folks like yourself.

Good luck. Jeff

Thanks, still having trouble.

Hey, thanks for the answer, but I'm still either doing something wrong, or my machine has a glitch. Basically, it keeps recording the same song onto the CD. Even if I mixdown a new tune in the Record/mixdown area. I go to the monitor area and highlight the track to be mixed, and it sounds good thru the headphones, Then I go to CD record area, hit "new" , press "execute", and it records something else......a repeat of some tune which seems to be stuck in the "on deck, ready to record" area. ????
Make sense? not to me.
Possible clue: when I hit "new" in record, it selects a tune called something other than my desired tune, which I have named at the beginning.

Any ideas? I think I'm missing 1 step, but can't seem to get it.
Thanks
Bud

Doing better

Continuing my own post............
Got it together now to record different tunes on the CD.
Missed the "jog data dial" instruction after highlighting the "new" song on the record list. Works now.....however.....

Still some songs on my Song List which don't show up in the Record list.
Just did a new one, for test, did the mixdown, all good, gave it a name, and it's there in the song list, plays, etc, but won't show up in the "new" section of record page.

???????
Doing something wrong again.
Any help, greatly appreciated.

Thanks for help, now to mixdown

Hey, Jeff....thanks for responding.
It's coming together now.
But now I'm hung on mixdown, and what seems like faders not working, or I need to activate something to make them work during mixing.
See my thread....newbie help with mixdown.

Shouldn't the mixdown process be just that: mixing the tracks with volume faders to come up with a good recordable mix?

Missing something simple again.

machine is great, just not intuitive.

Bud

you mix down to the stereo track on the G.
first, you want to go to [MONITOR] --> [ST. TRACK] and select which virtual stereo track (1-8) you want to mix to. do not turn [ST. TRACK: ON]. make sure that field reads [STEREO TRACK: OFF]. if it is on, you will not be in mix mode. now go to [RECORD] --> [MIXDOWN] and select [REC] (taking the G out of safe mode). then, just press record and play and do your thing. when you are done, select [SAFE] in the [RECORD] --> [MIXDOWN] screen, putting the G back in safe mode. to listen back to your mix, go back to [MONITOR] --> [ST. TRACK], making sure the appropriate virtual track is still selected (it should be), and turn [ST. TRACK: ON]. you should hear your mix with all fader adjustments intact.

if you have furthur problems, go to http://forum.dijonstock.com/ as jeffree suggested.
they are extremely nice people.
good luck.

Press the MONITOR button to check whether or not all inputs and tracks are enabled.

If individual tracks aren't enabled you won't be able to monitor (hear) those tracks when doing a mixdown.

You can toggle the inputs and tracks on or off by pressing the individual input or track buttons on the machine.
