Help with the wave!!!!

Help... i dont know why... when i record a sound in the Line In input, the wave appears too high... and i can't get it down... and it dont sound too loud... i post a picture for you to see it... how can i fix this?? i tried every combination in the line in and stereo mixer settings...help!!

Your picture is not complete (only shows the menu bar)....
 
LOL - well, see, that's because the wave is *soooooooooooo* big that it swamped the rest of the image. LOL

ya........better yet if you have the option to redo the recording......review your levels better, watch your trim/gain on your mic if there was a mic.

What instrument are you recording? I had the same problem with my acoustic guitar when I mic'd it. I went and got a compressor/limiter after that.
 
Didn't someone post a picture of a wave like this a while ago...?

Anyhoo, doesn't look like DC offset to me, since the wave looks to be centered at zero, just clipped on the positive side.....but its kinda hard to tel from the picture.

Try zooming in on the waveform and posting another image.

What is your signal path?
 
Nevermind that crap I just wrote. Definitely looks like DC offset - I wasn't looking at the scale. Also looks like its clipping somewhere though...

Definetely DC Offset.

Knock to knock him,, but I have never seen it that bad before.
