OK...Here it goes...
I just got a Soundblaster Audigy SE card and installed it thinking it would be great if I could record my Bass. I used to do this through a Soundblaster Live 5.1 around 6 or 7 years ago on my old computer and after about 5 or 6 hours of fiddling with that one I got it to work no problem and it sounded great plugged in through an adapter straight into the card (no pre-amp). But now I having huge problems with this card. I get major clicks and distortion that I can't get rid of. My CPU seems to overload very easily. I have Realtek 97 (not setup in program configs) still on and ASIO 4 All and now SB Audigy on. I don't think there's a conflict with the drivers but I can't be 100%. My computer is a Celeron 2.53 Ghz with 768 RAM. My old computer that recorded fine was a 1.7 with 512 Ram so I don't see how the speed and RAM could be a problem. WaveLab lets me record but with no sound. And FruitLoops (Demo) Ampeg (Demo) and Guitar Rig 3 (Demo) lets me play but sound clicks and distortion are really bad and nothing I do (Buffer size) seems to work. Please Please Help!
P.S. My Bass in plugged into the mic hole in soundcard with an adapter.
I guess what I'm Really asking is.....What's the best way to set up my soundcard so I can get the best use out of it to record my bass without buying a pre-amp.
Thanks
