Help With Mic Choice

I'm not the most experienced person in this form, but I really like my AKG 414.... Sounds good on my vox anyway...

Also, it does really sound good on my accoustic.
 
Yeah, I know Celine Dion likes it too, and I haven'thad much chance to really audition an EB or a TLII. As I've said before, there's no vocal mic so good that I can't find a perfectly good singer that will make it sound like hell. The reverse is often also true. If I wanted that neutral sound, I'd tend toward Shure KSM44. In Kenny's case, I think a 414 would be a lot like his Baby Bottle, with a lot more doodads.-Richie
 
While the multipattern version of the Lawson is out of your price range, I believe Gene makes a cardioid only version that would probably be perfect for your needs. Worth checking out.
 
I know what a pain in the ass these threads(tell me what I want next) can be. I appreciate all of your responses. I will now assess and assimilate all comments and suggestions and go blow a couple grand that I probably don't have to blow. That's a whole lot of ASS in one post. Who are you really, Sir Mix-a-lot? When all is said and done, I hope you get a mic that doesn't sound like ASS!!! :p
 
i assure you that i was assuming nothing in the way of a pun however ass sure ass there are T's and A's in Texas, My new aquisition will be ass free of gluteous maximus debris ass the driven snow

I think that I paid 900.00 new for my 4060..if you look maybe you can do a little better..Nice mic
