someone had metioned that they thought i should get guitar rig 3 to help start my in home studio... i read some on it.. i know that it has all the diff modles and stuff on it, but is guitar rig used as a tool with recording software like cakewalk or is guitar rig recoding software in itself... would i need to use guitar rig and cakewalk together? i hope my question is clear?

Guitar Rig does provide a virtual tape deck for recording loops. Those loops can be saved in native format. Guitar Rig is not recording software. You would need a program like Cakewalk to do any multi-tracking. Guitar Rig can be used from within Cakewalk as a vst plugin, so you can record tracks though it into your Cakewalk tracks.

Well, you could sort of use it for multi-track recording.
Using the loop machine, building up layers of loops!
That's what this guy has done on youtube (Re: Welcome to the Guitar Rig Hero Contest - Loop Soup)
