Help with earthing turntable

Can anybody please tell me how I can earth a turntable. I am trying to connect a turntable to a midi system which only has an auxilliary input. I have purc hased a phon pre-amp which boosts the signal okay but the problem is that I am getting a hum due to lack of earthing. Because I am not using a normal amplifier with a grounding terminal there is no where to connect the turntable's earth to. I was wondering if there was some old wive's solution to this. Help please

Connect the turntable ground wire to the chassis of the preamp.....

Thanks for the response. Sorry to sound green but what do you mean by connect to the chasis? The pre-amp has no earth terminal so do you mean connect it to the body of the pre-amp. If so, are we talking about using sticky tape or something?

Back out one of the screws that holds the cover to the chassis. Wrap your ground wire around the screw and retighten it.
