Ok, but who said ""no, F you, get out of our forum"???
All I said was I don't think Jimmy would have been so helpful if he caught that sentence, which he didn't. From there, all Jimmy said was "I'm out". Where did anyone tell the OP to F off and leave the forum?
Point taken, I was exaggerating a bit there and that probably isn't constructive. Still, I think the fundamental point still stands - refusing to help anyone who alludes to using piracy is kind of counter productive, because part of the help we CAN give them is encouraging them not to pirate and pointing them to free or affordable alternatives.
And, when you get right down to it, anyone contemplating pirating software clearly already have a mindset that piracy is ok, and are not likely to change their mind on that if left to their own devices. So, if not us, who? Being less helpful to someone just because they mention a willingness to pirate software isn't going to be as effective a way of combatting piracy as explaining that it's wrong, pointing to other alternatives, and then offering helpful advice elsewhere, and refusing to help probably perversely exasperates the problem.
