Ok guys I seriously need some help here. I write Electronic music. I have a label that actually wants to hear my demo. It's a long story, but I haven't got a stage name.

I would really like to have some kind of a stage name that fits my style as a SINGLE person. I don't want something that sounds like a band or a group of people.

Something like Moby, but not Moby or course. And please don't suggest dick. I am serious here. I have to send my demo pack out by next week so if you guys can help, I would love to hear from you all.

Whats wrong with Eljay? It's one word.

either eljay, or try using your own real name, first and last, and you can also try re-arranging some of the letters in your name.
example--
my name is andrew marchione, i dont care for the whole italian name thing so i am currently using spacedye, but am changing it to-
andy marche
what do you think of that name?

This might be a little off topic (and not much help to the post) but as far as Moby is concerned, that name was given to him by his parents because he is a relative of Hermann Melville, who wrote 'Moby Dick'

Thanks guys, I really I appreiciate the feedback. Ok heres what I DO have;

I have been using the name DIGITAL SPAWN and even have the domain name AND MP3.COM artist directory secured.

Do you guys like that name? What do you guys think? My friend who's a musician thinks it to aggessive sounding for the low key tunes I produce. But not ALL my tunes are low key, he hastn't heard everything I have done. But my wife hates the name DIGITAL SPAWN.

I like it maybe that's all that matters. I would really like some feed back though, I respect the members of this board :)

,,,,,,honestly.....not diggin digital spawn too much. Sounds kinda pretensious. Big glamorous names arent important.....just grab something humble that you can build to be huge...

.....what about "Bob"?.....
I kid you not, I just did an 8 song CD for a local blues band named "What About Bob".:D

Ok but what amout me? :)

I like eLJay but how do I know if it's taken or not?

Any one else have feed back on Digital Spawn?

Digital spawn sounds like some dude trying to get it going making silly beats on a groovebox. He might have the looks though.

Digital spawn would definatelly not raise my interest.
Eljay seems pretty ok.

Just to make a point, I chose Digital Spawn from a COMMERCIAL point of view. I wanted the name to appeal to the public.

Personaly I don't think labels care what name you have, to a certain extent. I never heard of a band changing its name due to the label's dis-like of it.

So I am more or less looking for a name that would appeal to the commercial public. I went to MP3.com and it seem that a lot of artist doing the type of music I do are using flashy names such as Digital Spawn.

There's even a few flashy names here on these boards. It's show business :)

I just don't know, I guess it all boils down to "what's in a name" :)

Digital Spawn is pretentious and kind of juvinile (unless you have a cape and offer clients and fans secret decoder rings).
