WE need more Choir Members- Gerry (ido57) are you hearing this? :D

CincyKid on Lead Vox

we can also do a female version if true or Britt wants to give it a whirl.

The choir stuff will be after it modulates to D. So just two sections of the Choir. I can edit like a pro, the main thing will be to be precise since we arent in the same room. We dont have to worry about it until the lead Vocals and some guitars are down, we will save the choir for the end!

THis is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO COOOL, I will try my best to make it sound like an authentic choir!!

David, got the lyrics you "tossed" my way....(snickers at Gorty...) :D

I am going to lay down some vocals this weekend. Should I wait for the guitars or go ahead and track? Dog or GOrty lay anything down yet? (yes I said Lay.... ;))

Its up to you, I would guess you dont need em. Lousy steenkin geetar pickers :D

I think the vocals are going to set the whole vibe for the tune and people will adjust to the vox. The "choir" stuff is going to be built around the lead vocals, the choir will be doing something different than the lead. It wont be complicated, it will be somewhat of a "B" theme going on.

I will LAY something this Sunday, hopefully.... :D

I'm not home right now, and return Sunday afternoon. Acoustic, electric...what you want? I got the suck part down.... :p

what you want?

I want dem Boobies you have in your avatar. Deeeelish! :D

Play whatever you wish, this is a GROUP collab. Use you musical ears and figger out whatever is appropriate for the style. I think the Gospel clapping part should have some Rhythm guitar in a groove with the Piano part. The piano part is cleaner, I will try to post a new version today.

I have just tracked some clean tones mimicking the vocal line (single note melody) and some very mellow underlying lead in the Bridge section. (In the key of A) I just need to do some editing but I would like to wait until you have tracked some vocals before I go much further Cincy!!

Once you have tracked your vocals I will post what I have, or re-track to suit. The guitars I have tracked so far are all clean, perhaps they will need to have some Gospel Dirt dialled in!!......Jimmy Baker style!!

We shall see how we go!!

Ok, sounds good, then I guess I will track tonight / tomorrow and see what I come up with. I am not going to be following the synth vocals version that David posted simply because a lot of the notes are too high for me to hit :o

So, it will be more of what suits my voice better and hopefully will still sound ok.

Stay tuned....

Exactly: think of it as a guideline. I would prefer you NOT follow the synth vox too closely and just do what feels right. Its jesus music, so you can really let loose on the gospel stuff and do your thang. You have carte Blanche, we will build everything else around your tracks.

I am pretty excited about doing this!! I dont know if any of us are religious, but I do know that WE are good musicians fully capable of pulling off Jesus music just like it goes.

Don't get cocky. It's harder than it looks, and musicianship ain't the main thing.

Im not.

It's harder than it looks,
No its not. Its what it is. All music is hard to pull off effectively.
and musicianship ain't the main thing.
Musicianship is the ONLY thing.

Arvo, for some reason you apparently think I am "above" or "dissin" this genre. This couldnt be more wrong. I give 100% to all music, case closed. I wouldnt waste my time on it If I didnt think it could turn out great. I am not a musical snob, ALL music should be peformed to the best of its ability. I dont care if its Mozart, Satanic Disco, Klezmer, Hoodlum rock, Smooth jazz, folkabilly, Gangsta rap or Muzak.

I shall put forh whatever I am capable of, and whatever happens, happens.... :D

That's why I will need to have your vocals before I do anything else!!

I may have a go at "tossing" some chords down!!.....*chuckles at Dogman because I said tossing* :D :D

Hey, Dave, I'm sorry. I had a feeling that my post was gonna come off wrong. I know you're quite capable of whatever you try, and I don't think you're dissin' or condescending.

This is a tough genre because people aren't familiar with it. We've got 100s of Christian CDs and that's all we listened to for about twenty years until Christian went over-cautiously corporate in the late 90s. I've also heard lots of great musicianship on songs that missed, for lack of a better term, the Jesus factor. I've also heard some really musically mediocre performances that had a heap of Holy Ghost in them and they ministered to me. The best was when great spirituality and great musicianship worked together.

This will be an interesting project.

Ug...

Well all, I tried to track some tonight for a couple of hours and it just isn't happening. Bottom line is that it is just too high for me and out of my vocal range. I can sound "decent" on some of the verses but also can hear myself strain on a few higher notes. The A minor section I cant even think to attempt without dropping it an entire octave and that sounds plain silly ;)

I had reservations about it at first but thought I could change it up a bit to be in my range but I am not having any success in doing so. Sorry for wasting anyone's time waiting on me to track but I can't continue on this.

I hope someone else can come in and pick up the ball because David will certainly mix the heck out of this thing and theres already some talent participating on guitar / percussions /back up vocals etc...

Sorry again all ~

Cincy

No problem Cincy. A couple of ideas if you are still interested:

A. I can transpose it

B. We can do a "We are the World" arrangement, which might be pretty cool. Have different singers on different parts. Do you have anything saved? If you do I would love to hear it! I dont really know where its going, it could go a million ways. Transposing wouldnt take much, I can redo the violins and the rest is midi.
