Help w/ small dia. condenser choices..

I've read good things about the C4's, but I've never used them before so I don't know.
 
Someone here posted that the Samson C02s suck ass with an unusable noise floor. I think Dot said that, yes, the Superlux is basically the same mic which they make for Samson. He seems to like the Superlux...

I like my Samson C02s, actually. They're at least as well matched as my matched CADs and they sound very good. Maybe I was lucky and just happened to get a good pair.

Also, you can get them for 80-90 bucks on ebay, new...

Also, I don't think electret is a mark of death. Some of my fave mics have been electret. The CAD E-100, AKG C4000, and CM700 come to mind...
 
NT5's - you will not be dissapointed. Agreed as well, what you get out of them is determined how patient you are with them. Yes they are quite "Meaty" but also reproduce a smooth, but strong top end.

Also the price on them is going up, for a reason. They are strong, reliable and price wise cant be beat.

Plus they look like the km184's lol lol

I've got MXL 603s and NT5s and find myself heading back towards NT5s these days - just seem to work a little better with my guitar which has a beautiful top end which I have trouble reproducing accurately with the 603s at the moment.


(hey ausrock, if you stick your head in this thread, I'm still tracking the same damn song I was three months ago... sigh....)
