Hi, I have an audio recording in which the volume goes up and down quite a bit. This is because when the mp3 was recorded, a line out was used from a mixer, and on the mixer the volume was being constantly adjusted (mixer was also hooked up to speakers). Is there some program I can use to more or less equalize the volume throughout the file. I've come across several programs that will normalize groups of files, but not individual files themselves.

I tried using audition (effects -> amplititude -> normalize) to normalize to "100%" but I dont think this did much. Am I completely off in my method, or should I be changing some value? Is there some other feature in audition for this?

I'm no expert in audio so I'm not sure what to do. Any input would be GREATLY appreciated.

normalizing didn't do much 'cause...well, normalizing doesn't do much. try compressing it 'cause this is what compression is generally used for. find some websites that talk about compression and how to use the parameters for it.

Your best bet would be to find a program that will let you do volume automation. (Pro Tools free will do this). Just turn up the parts as they go down, etc.
