HELP~"synthesizer--->pc":confused:

help.....I got a old synthesizer(Roland XP10) from my friend.
want to connect it to pc as a midi controller.
I use a midi cable to connect XP10's midi output to soundblaster live's port in pc,but it doesn't work!?...could anyone help me?

Have you ckecked that you are "talking" on the same midi channel?

MIDI operates on 16 different channels, numbered 0 through 15. Midi devices will accept or ignore status data (information) depending on which channel the device is set to recieve staus on.

...FYI, some Roland keyboards set channel 4 as default on it's initial mode. Not sure about how it goes in XP-10...
