Hello,

I had a ball mic and M-Audio DUO (with 2 pre built-in) for almost a year and working fine.

Today I just got a Studio Projects B1 and plug into my DUO...
no sound.. I unplug it, and see that both 'sig' and 'clip' led keep
light on ( nothing is plugged!!!!). After I switch on and off my DUO, and reboot and reboot my PC it still don't work, both LED
keep light on even there is nothing connect to that channel. I
plug in my ball mic in that channel and still don't work. it seems
that channel is dead.

Then I try to plug the ball mic in another channel, it works.
they I unplug the ball mic, and plug into the B1, and see that
both 'sig' and 'clip' ligh up (the gain knob is set to minimum)...
and now i have both channel die......

Is that the B1 problem or my DUO problem??!!!

Pls help!!

I just looked it up and it does.

You need to turn on the phantom power after you've connected the mic. The B1 is a powered microphone that gets its power through the mic cable. Make sure to turn phantom power off before disconnecting, too.

It's possible.

Try turning it off, then connecting the B1 and then powering it up with the pre turned down.

NO! Only turn phantom power on after mic is plugged in.

When finished, turn phantom power off before unplugging mic.

always remember:

first connect all your equipment, THEN power up,

first put the mic in yer soundcard, then give it phantom power,
to be completely safe: turn yer PC down, plug the mic in, boot,
and then give yer mic phantom

i once had the same kinda thing with my Delta1010, i mean, the leds that were constantly CLIPPING eventhough there was no cable connected,
i had to take the card out of the pc, let everything cool down,
and after a few minutes it worked again...
(i still don't know what went wrong that time...mabe i stepped on a cord or so;...)

if you think your Pre's are dead now, you can always try to take yer soundcard out of the pc for a while, and test it again, lets say 20 minutes later..... its just a guess, but hell, if it can save your ass ?...

hope it helps,

Nope... Duos are CRAP. Same thing happened with my Behringer B1. They replaced it twice and it kept happening. Return that shit and buy somethin else.

I got a EDIROL UA-5 and it performs well with no problems. Listen to my stuff on www.rapshack.net. I USE EDIROL UA-5, BEHRINGER B-1, ACID PRO
