HELP ! someone please clear this up for me ! ! ! !

I dont knwo whats going on with my 1680,

Im getting all different isues with my faders,

(1) my faders are sometimes non-responsive (Iv set teh fader to In)

(2) When I record to 2 tracks, one tracks recording will sound diffrent than the other track even though they are both routed to the same input,

(it sounds liek there EQ'd differently, are there mixer settings on songs allready selected, why would they EQ the tracks different?)
 
What do you mean by "faders are non-responsive" when you have the track/input selector set to "in"?
They will not affect playback when they are set to IN.
There are not set eq's on the 1680, unless you count setting everything to zero. But, the track inputs are assigned to left and right channels. That might be the problem your having with 2 tracks sounding different.
 
try making a totally new song, use one of the default templates. The problems your describing could be either serious problems or improper setup. I used to use the 890, and whenever something doesnt work right it was usually a bad mixer setting on my part. Make sure you dont have an eq or fx turned on 1 channel.
 
I tried a new template and my faders are still not respionding, Iv tried setting teh fader/mute to IN. Still not responding,

Time to invest in either a Alesis or Mackie HD or a new p.c./daw!
I've noticed many post's here & @ VS Planet about operational complaints and failures with VS recorders .
What else can be the reason why Ro is sellin' off it's 8-track VS 880ex or whatever for $395!!??


And no, I'm not a Roland VS hater!
Jus' been noticin' a lot of complaints about it's VS line of recorders!
 
Never had a problem with my 880EX, and I got one of the first ones in Canada in 1998. There are bum units out there, and a number of issues (such as the jog wheel problem) but most platforms have their own unique cluster of problems. What I would suggest is that you back everything up to CD, and then reinitialize the HD. If that fails, I would look in at www.vsplanet.com to find out how to determine what OS you are using, and then find out if there are any issues with that OS. Obviously, if it isn't a software prob, it will have to be sent to a Roland service rep. Really, though, the 1680 has a pretty good reputation in terms of reliability.

I have absolutely no complaints about my VS880EX. In fact I always tell people how cool it is. As for 880EX’s for $395, that would be a good deal even if they are a discontinued item. The low prices on hard disk recorders may be due to preparation for the next onslaught of digital recorders, which will be solid state or flash card storage, already available in the lower resolution format.

fader/mute should be track.

in the utilety menu there are a bunch of sync and midi options i think 1 of them is control source this must be set to INternal, if its set 2 External your faders are not responding. this is 4 when you're using a external seq. like vspro, logig, ect.

Ok i checked on the vs.
It's on menu system
choose midi
choose cntrl Local

you got the options: on and off
This should be on.
