"Windows 98 and a few software demos" won't get you too far in this regard. Do you have anything (either hardware or software) that is capable of creating sounds? For example, a synthesizer, a drum machine, or a softsynth? If you start by listing exacly what you have, maybe we can help you to decide whether you need anything else.

I have - M-Audio USB Interface
- Oxygen 8 MIDI
-M-Audio moniters
-Laptop and Reason 2 and Live software demo (will buy full version if i like itor something else)

how do i set it up and get soem sound

What's your problem exactly? Are you having problems running the programs or connecting the hardware.

First, install the MIDI keyboard as the instructions specify (either connect USB only or install included drivers followed by connect USB). Install Reason and go to the options in it (I don't use Reason, so my descriptions will be vague). From there, setup your MIDI keyboard as the MIDI controller (I'm not getting into details on this one...sorry). Then select a synth, insturment, or whatever in Reason and have it set for your MIDI keyboard to control. Play around with that to get started. Oh, and it sound like you need to do a ton of reading and practicing. As far as hooking up the speakers, my guess is that you'll need an external soundcard, being that headphone plugs are the only output you've likely got. I may be off on that, however. ;)
