help please.

Im new to this stuff and i have a behringer xenyx x2442usb mixer and a mbox 2 mini interface, when i start recording drums everytime i get feedback, ive turned down the inputs on the interface and the mixer and tried recording in mono and stereo but i always get the distorted feedback. can somebody help me?

Please tell us what cables you have plugged in where.

Feedback? Turn off your monitors and use headphones for tracking. First, get a good mix level on the xenyx and dont touch it again.

Next - You're running the xenyx main mix into your mbox right? Make sure the inputs are set to line-in, not mic/di. You may be blasting too strong of a signal into your mbox. Turn the gains on the mbox all the way down, and turn em up slowly until you start hearing them. Does it work ok if you use the xenyx usb for the interface and not the mbox?

You generally only get feedback in recording when your monitors are relaying what you're recording back into the mics that are recording it. Use headphones..

Well if I said "feeding what you're recording back into the mics" then I wouldn't be able to pretend to be knowledgable... it would have been a dead giveaway... and I'd have to hand in my Junior Woodchuck Newbie Adviser Badge... "relaying" sounds so much more learned...
