Again me, asking your precious advises. I need to master out of my digital multitrack Korg D 16. Now shall I invest all my money in Alesis masterlink to have a good audio CD or can I use this different route :
1) Exit korg multitrack to a compressor and to a SPL vitalizer (is it so important ??)
2)Out of the vitalizer to my PC via SB Live (will it not hiss??)
3)When in my PC record the audio tracks on CD using the Plextor CD recorder I have.

Doing this it is not yet clear to me how will transfer the left/right audio data to hard disk and I imagine cannot be in real time (while listening, am I right??)

Any other better and simpler way in achieving the audio CD (Must be playable on normal HIFI equipments)

Another option is to transfer the korg recording via scsi to the PC exporting the files in wav format, sounds possible and logic ??
Pls feel free to suggest me, TKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Either that or keep it digital through something like a Finalizer, run it through a digital input on an appropriate soundcard to yer PC. Then burn the CD.

That's similar to my preferred process.

Although, I'm kind of curious about the Masterlink. In particular, I'm curious about some of its shortcomings. Such as:

- Fixed CD speed: Burners keep getting faster and cheaper. It's easy to upgrade your PC burner as opposed to being stuck with the one on the Masterlink.

- Data backup: You can backup your audio files on your PC to a data CD-R. Can the Masterlink also back up the mixed stereo tracks on its HD to a data CD-R?

Why would the Masterlink be preferred over PC and Finalizer or PC and appropriate mastering software?
