I've got an Antares AVP-1 vocal producer and when I plug it into the channel insert on my Mackie 32x8 bus mixer... it over-drives the the AVP-1. So my question is... how should I pad the signal down?

PS... I've been using the direct channel out (post fader) to the AVP-1... but, I'd like to use the channel inserts.

I wish the AVP-1 had a -10/+4 switch, but it doesn't.

Can anyone here help me with this problem? Thanks.

The AVP-1 is designed to run with a -10dBV gain structure, and the inserts on the Mackie console are +4dBu -- so you are overloading the inputs on the AVP by about 12dB............ the easiest way to make this work is use one of those line-level shifters (EbTech makes a decent one) to drop the signal down to -10, then back up to +4 on the returns.... the only downside is, this *may* introduce some very slight coloration to the sound (you have to try it yourself to see if it's acceptable to you).

Thank you for the reply... you wouldn't happen to have a link to where I can get one of those EbTech line-level shifters would you? Thanks again.
