when it comes to external soundcards internal soundcards, analog or trs/xlr ports, mixers ect what works best for drums guitar bass and vocals.

is there a soundcard/mixer/interface that will do the trick in the studio as well as help me live?

i use a tascam us-122 with a shure 57 mic and i plan on getting something so i can record drums bass guitar and vocals simotaniously.

is a 2 port mic interface like the us-122 enough to produce decent quality for drums and the rest seperately? do i only need to mic the snare and kick?

does my internal soundcard have any effect on recording if im using an interface like external soundcard?

if i had a an external interface the like the us-122, and then an internal soundcard with mic ports, would i be able to use them simotaniously and effectively?

A good setup for you would be a multi input breakout and PCI, or USB interface with onboard preamps for mics.
A couple of good mics will produce descent recordings if done right. The drums normally would require a few more. Would be nice to get about 5 mics.
Dont plan on using your stock soundcard for a good quality recording. It is however a start if your strapped for cash. But with only 1 input you would need some type of mixer to crunch down to one output.

I use 3 mics to mic my kit, 1 snare, 1 kick, 1 overhead. A 2nd overhead would be nice.

I use a Yamaha MG12/4 mixer for preamps & phantom power - $199, and a Delta 44 sound card with 4 balanced inputs - $199. This setup works well in the studio - live you'd be better off a usb type sound card like your us-122
