Help on Mic, monitors, cables.

ok i've been hearing good things about both microphones.. Rode NT1a and Studio Projects C1.. i have a mid deep voice, what do you all think? also i've chose some cheap M-Audio Studiophile DX4 monitors for now, when i get more money i'll buy new ones but these should be good enough, i'm just not sure what cables to get for hte Monitors and mic. thanks in advance.

you will need balanced cables, a balanced xlr for the mic, and im not really sure what connections the dx4s use.

That will work. Just keep in mind when it comes to pre amps, the more expensive they are, the better quality. A $30 pre amp will work, but a $300 pre amp will sound much nicer, quieter (less hiss, etc). Be wary that some of them tend to "color" the signal. Try not to invest in one that has effects built in. You don't really need them anyway, IMO. You will want to track as dry as possible (maybe have reverb in your monitors, but not on the track itself).
