Hello,

A few years ago, I bought a Tascam US-122 audio/midi interface so that I could do a little bit of basic recording at home. I have tried many times to record myself playing guitar into Sonar 7 (producer edition) using a cheap Shure microphone (PG58) and the Tascam device but unfortunately, I have so far been unsuccessful. I have tried unsuccessfully to record using two different PCs. One of those computer should definitely be able to handle it I think.

The problem I am having is that there seems to be a couple of seconds delay in my computer responding to incoming signals. The level indicator seems to respond a few seconds after the sound source has been played. In other words, if I strum a chord progression the computer takes a couple of seconds to recognize and respond to the incoming signal. Also, if I play back the recorded sound, the audio seems to skip or crackle.

I have already tried the most obvious ways of fixing this problem such as adjusting the latency settings in both Sonar and in my computer's control panel where I can change the Tascam's settings. I've tried changing the sample rate, the bit depth and allowed Sonar to configure/optimize my audio settings for recording. I also try to make sure that there are no other programmes running in the background during recording too but nothing has worked so far. The extent of the problem seems to decrease with the changes I've made but it's still not good enough to record.

Please can anybody suggest any other ways of fixing this problem? I would be very grateful to anyone that can help me. I hope what I've said here makes some sense!

Thanks.

These are the specs of my PC as seen in control panel:

CPU- Pentium (R) D 2.80 GHz
RAM- 1GB
Soundcard- RealTek HD Audio
